I thought this was well established already. While I know nothing official will come out, I'm curious if it's possible a custom ROM will be developed for a newer version. I've never looked into flashing new ROMs to know if this is possible, much less have enough interest for someone to develop it.

You can check Cyanogenmod website or AOKP, to see if they support it.

Probably the same issues as the Galaxy Nexus - TI OMAP support is basically gone.

Plus internal resources are either not there or working on updating the Moto X and the 2013 DROIDs (or working on the Moto G).
