Droid Incredible hits EOL from Verizon, post your favorite memories

Just picked up a Dinc a few weeks ago from Craigslist and love it. So, my memories are just starting.
Been on a BB for several years and glad I made the switch.
Once I find some time, I'll sit down and root to get more out this device.

Got my Inc on launch day as a pre-order customer. I was ecstatic to finally take that POS Storm 1 and skip it across a very deep lake. Then the constant reboots started 20 minutes into my very first use of the phone. I thought I had hit a wrong button, nope, it was the phone...rebooting just like the piece of garbage Storm had been doing to me all along. Needless to say I was pretty ticked off. Went to the nearest Verizon company owned store and explained the problem. They assured me they were working on it and it was a North Carolina thing that was happening to every Inc in the area. He said he could get me into another phone then and there or I could wait out the weekend, see if it gets sorted out and if not, he'd hook me up with something else. I was pretty skeptical having thought I was rid of an unreliable hunk of junk only to get another one but after reading all the reviews on here about it for the months before it was released I decided to wait. One of the best decisions I've ever made regarding this phone...the other best decision I've made is to root and release myself from the shackles of VZcrapigator, VZblahblah, Skype and the rest. Currently rocking CM7 Nightlies because I want to, not because Verizon says I have to and loving it.

I must say as long as the development of ROMs for this phone continues, I can't really see myself getting anytihng else. 4G probably wont hit this area for a while, I'm not into video chat from my phone so do need an forward facing camera and the size to me is perfect.

I can't believe this phone is already being discontinued. It is an amazing device and Verizon is CRAZY to let this one go so soon. I am lucky to have this device and I owe it to the Retention Dept. I have been enjoying my DINC for 90 days or so give or take a few days. I was a BB user and I can't tell you how many I have had and all the issues. The last replacement was the final straw for me and after contacting Retention, they promised me an Incredible once they had one. It took a month for them to get one and I am so pleased. I love love LOVE this thing. It is living up to the name.........Incredible

absolutely my favorite device ever, i get a new phone about every 6 months lol and this was my absolute favorite. I have the TB now but i still miss the sleek design and awesome AMOLED screen. HTC had a world champ of smartphones with this one and has sold me to HTC forever, lets just hope there future devices will keep on par.

I got caught up in the "great dinc shortage of 2010".I joined AC when I ordered it(june 2,2010 an online order) had many post in the waiting room thread for the dinc. Finally got it July 2,2010 a day which will live forever.Rooted in Dec.2010.
Still have no plans to retire it anytime soon, its a classic :)

Yep I was in the same boat. I had a Washington DC trip planned for the 4th of July and was praying I would get it in time to take it with me just to learn all about it on the way there. At the same time I was worried I would get the call it was in and have to wait until I got back to play with it (which I had to anyway) Came back on the 8th and got it on the 9th. Loved it ever since.

My friend had an incredible, and after the rough two years i spent with the blackberry storm (OMG NOOOOO!!!!) it looked really badass. I asked my friend, "Hows the camera on that thing?" She proceeded to let me play with it and i was like...GOD YES! so i immediately ran to Verizon and told the rep that that was the phone i wanted. He proceeded to tell me that they had none in stock and i would have to wait a week to get one...FML. Then while he was ringing me up for my Incredible order, another sales rep walking by said, "Hey man why are you filling out an order form? UPS just brought us 10 of those like a half hour ago." Since this was during the great incredible blackout I was beyond stoked. I fell in love with HTC and Android. For once i felt completely content with a phone, and to this day i still feel the same way i am not gonna retire this thing until its final breath...lol

I came from the tp2 and was ready to upgrade in 6 months. I wanted to see what all the hype was about the MOTO Droid, so I went to big red and picked one up. Had it one day and didn't like the kb. So, I took it back the next day. The Dinc had just come out. Picked it up and been hooked ever since. Made me want to take up programming. I've had girlfriends get made about me always playing with it(the phone), it still feels like my first week with this phone. Best phone I ever had, and my next phone will be an HTC.

I ordered it in July, didn't get it till August. I waited for about 2 weeks for this, even though they tried to sell me the X, I wouldn't take it. Glad I was so stubborn.

My favorite memory must be when I rooted and flashed CM6 on it. I'm still using CM6, though I'm trying to switch over to CM7 RC4 within a few days. The change from the stock ROM was such a difference, I love the freedom I have with rooting. Wireless tethering for free was what truly convinced me, and I couldn't be happier with it.

coming from AT&T and a Tilt

I found myself in the "golden hour" of having all (3) of my devices off contract at the same time. I was with AT&T and my son and I had HTC Tilts (WM6). I had been running a bootleg Android ROM on the Tilt and thE Dinc was looking too good to pass up. No complaints. No, no complaints at all.

I got my Dinc in November and I have to say, at first I was completely befuddled. I'd come from a Dare and there was just so much to customize and tweak and setting for everything that I was a bit overwhelmed and actually thought about returning it for the first few days. Once I got comfortable, though, I became completely and totally in love with this phone. My hubby teases me all the time about constantly playing with my phone and neglecting him (he's not)!

The Incredible!

I had to wait over a month to receive my Incredible during the shortage. And of course I missed the UPS delivery so I drove an hour that night to go pick it up. Haven't looked back since then, the Incredible clearly lived up to the hype, streamlining Android into the pockets of Americans. Not enough can be said for this phone, especially with CM7 and all of its gingerbready goodness. Long live the Incredible!

I only had my dinc for about 4 months, and i just sold it to upgrade to the tbolt a few weeks ago, but it was an awesome device, my first smart phone, and the dev options for it are endless. Loved it, a little sad that i sold it and upgraded, but i had to, and the tbolt is sort of like the dincs younger brother with that disease robin williams had in the movie jack, where he's grown up too fast and bigger than everybody else.
