Before my incredible came yesterday(!) I had a blackberry, and had had blackberrys for a while, so to get my ringtones I used crackberry. They had a good array of songs, although not all, and it was fairly simple- just having to email them to yourself, and open on the phone.

I am wondering if there is something similar to crackberry for droid. I downloaded zedge on my phone, but so far have not been able to find any actual songs on it (maybe I am doing something wrong) ..... and I have seen some threads about using the music on your phone to make ringtones, but I have an ipod touch and probably will not put any music on my phone to save memory.

Any suggestions?

Zedge doesn't have full out mp3 songs. I think the limit is something like 30 seconds for clips and in the last couple years, a lot have been taken down due to copyright infringements and everyone wanting to make money off that thirty second clip. -roll eyes- So that's probably why you can't find much.

When you put the music on the SD card, it does not really 'save' memory persay, as your app memory is purely for that; apps. (Unless you root or use Astro, but that's a whole different discussion)

So you can put music on your memory card and use them as ringtones. I personally don't do this, as usually the beginnings of songs are not the best ringtone material (slow rising introductions, no lyrics, whatever) so I downloaded Audacity and just cut the songs to the parts I'd like to use as ringtones, and move them into a Ringtones folder on my SD card.

Now if this doesn't entice you - it is a fairly grinding process if you're very anal about fadeouts, exact lyrics, no overlaps, etc - you might just continue to use CrackBerry to get ringtones.

Hope this helps! :)
