Last week, my Droid Maxx began acting up: It was running hotter and the battery was draining much faster. Even worse, the Mobile Hot Spot would no longer accept connections from my other devices (Windows Laptop, Dell 7840 Tablet). Using GSam Battery Monitor, I found some wakelocks that were running almost constantly. I had made a couple of changes, but I can't directly tie them to the issues (one was to a weather apps notifications, and the other was to monitoring my data usage).
I finally gave up and did a factory reset this morning and I probably should have done it earlier. The speed and responsiveness is better and (so far) the MHS is working fine. The experience wasn't as bad as the last time I did a Factory Reset (on a HTC Thunderbolt) and Google does a much better job of restoring apps (though still not 100% - I had to reinstall all of my financial apps and several of the hotel/motel apps).
The one glitch was the LastPass app - I had not turned off Google Authenticator two-factor authentication for it. I have moved all my other 2FA's to SMS, and I will probably leave them there for now, because I am looking at ordering a Moto X PE when they become available. The other aggravation was having to also factory reset my Moto 360 to get it to re-pair with the phone.
