Droid Maxx- how to stream pandora via usb for full radio unit control?

Just switched from IPhone to the Droid Maxx & love it except one major issue. We have a car audio head (Alpine 136bt) that has pandora radio as an option if connected via usb port (along with Aux, bluetooth, etc). We use it daily as it puts all the pandora controls on our radio head so we don't have to touch the phones (change stations, skip, favorite, thumbs up/down). Worked great with our iphones. But we can't seem to get it to work with the Maxx. Playing music via usb works great only if there is music downloaded to the phone, not when streaming. We can get Pandora to play through our car stero if it's set to bluetooth, but then we lose all our hands-free capability because we need to touch the phone to change stations or thumbs down a song.

This is super dangerous because not only is that illegal in our state, but we regularly drive very mountainous and dangerous roads. That split second it takes to look at the phone and change stations could mean the difference between staying safely on the road, or going straight off a cliff with no guardrails... We though about the audio jack, but again that would only play the audio and still not give our radio head any direct control of pandora...

Am I missing something here? Do I need to make some adjustments in Pandora app? the maxx? my alpine radio?? Seems like a huge flaw for someone to have not figured it out by now... Any help would be great!!!!

Welcome to Android Central! It's almost certainly due to specific iPhone/iPod compatibility. The manual (http://support.alpine-usa.com/products/documents/OM_CDE-136BT_EN.pdf) specifically states iPhone/iPod, which means it's designed for them, and is not compatible with non-iOS devices. Many audio manufacturers still sadly favor iOS devices only, but that finally seems to be changing recently.

I remembered. It's the car home ultra app I use for my car dock. They had the change log for the new update and it's there that it says that it's working better with Pandora now. I'd suggest downloading the app, see if what you need works and then pay for the full license to support the developer..It's an excellent app
