DROID Maxx Pre-Order on Wirefly.

I doubt Kim knows anything either. Realize, folks, that Wirefly is as upset as we are since they're probably losing orders...so they're not the problem. I'm sure the supply chain to VZW stores and customers created shortages elsewhere.

$156 in savings in California...
I have felt burned by Verizon and Samsung after spending $300 for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus I currently have. All 4 replacements I received under warranty had the same issues, Dismal battery life, screeching during calls, and poor reception. I cant bring myself to lay out another $300 plus $30 upgrade fee to Verizon so I shall wait!

Bottom line the supply is short they didn't make enough for launch. If they did and are just trying to let Verizon monopolize sales off the bat then why does the website keep changing it's date. First an online order was getting shipped on the 20th then it went to the 27th then the 3rd then the 5th. Verizon wants to make sure when a person walks into a store they can get a phone everyone else can wait.

Well, yeah! Can't blame them for that.

No you can't but it sucks paying 100 more for it or waiting another 1-2 months. What screwed me was coming on here and seeing all the great reviews I just couldn't hold out any longer. And glad I didn't it is a remarkable phone the battery life is amazing. I still plug it in when ever I can but that is just old habits like right now it was down to 95% and I plugged it in. My bionic was getting horrible battery life with everything off and shutting off data when the screen was off would help a lot. With the Maxx I am leaving everything on even gps and it kicks ***.

@Nuclearrampage, How long does wirefly cover damages? I know they require the user to use the phone for 6 months, so what if it breaks during then and I have to get a new device?

I would say if you're that worried about it, get the insurance. Getting a new phone doesn't break a contract though.

It's actually still possible to get the device for $200 after rebate. If you sign a 2-yr agreement through Verizon at Comcast, then they'll sell you the phone for $299 and give you a $100 Visa gift card. You don't need to be a Comcast or Xfinity customer to qualify. http://www.comcast.com/wireless.html
If you are an Xfinity customer, you can do even better by electing to receive $10 off your Xfinity bill every month for 12 months instead of the $100 gift card. That will come out to a total of $120. So you'll effectively be buying the phone for $180.
Order being fullfilled via Verizon, so no waiting on shipping. It says 6 weeks after the order for the card, which at this rate may arrive before the phones purchased from 3rd parties.

^^^I wish I had seen that before I went to the Verizon store today, but I'm glad I have the phone in any event.

how do you like it so far? Debating on doing the Comcast order vs. waiting for wirefly. Not sure if people were thinking the 4 th or the 5th of Sept that these phone should be available.

^^
Coming from my ridiculously thick Rezound with extended battery it's like a completely different experience holding it. Otherwise so far so good.

I too am thinking of doing the Comcast method (I like that $10 off my bill deal) and ditching Wirefly. Ordering straight from Verizon also eliminates the 6-month no changes policy Wirefly has, as well as in-store support should something go haywire down the road. Even if they ship the same day (later this week, 9/4-6) that seems like the better option. Now to see if it'll actually work...

I know this may not be wirefly's fault, but i wish they would tell us something. If they came out and told me that Verizon was not sending them devices, I would be fine with it and just wait. But since I really don't know why I'm not getting my phone and its been over 2 weeks since release, they lost me as a customer.

Well I bit the bullet and canceled my Wirefly order and went with the straight from Verizon via Comcast method. Friendly CSR on the phone, a total of $120 off my Comcast bills over the next year...and most importantly, a confirmed ship date of 9/5 on my new Maxx. Can't wait.

There is no question that wirefly knows something of the availability of the phones. They did raise the price. Be nice if Kim could update us...

All she's gonna say is 'it's going to ship soon, sorry I don't have another update'. If she told us 2 weeks ago it wouldn't be here by now, many of the preorders would have cancelled. I'm waiting a few more days then going comcast route.

Why wait? Yes, you do have to put down $100 more upfront, which may be an issue for some. For those that can do it, is there really a downside to NOT buying this way?

damn you. damn you for putting that thought into my head. i was waiting because i will have to pay $20 in sales tax where as amazon had 0. but thanks to you i have ordered thru comcast

PS- even though there was no 'official' ship date thru amazon, when i looked at order details it did say expected delivery sept 24-oct 8. i asked CS one last time about delivery and they said it showed unknown.

In reply to why not go comcast/vzw route I have Two words:

Sales Tax.

In CA, we pay tax on the full price of the phone, if go the comcast/verizon route I'll be paying tax on a $600-700 phone at 9%.
