I miss android atlas weekly on CNET. Every week their pod cast video would record to my tivo and I got to hear lots of love, news, speculating, etc for Android.

I used to frequent reading The Verge, and even listened to their regular podcast, however that all stopped when I heard the majority of them actually say that they were unabashedly iOS users and only really deal with Android when they need to do a review or report news. I've heard them be blatantly wrong or ignorant about some Android functionality, saying things like "I'm not an Android user, so I don't really know anything about that (even though they are talking about it in length)." Oh well, The Verge just became one less website for me to peruse. It's no loss at all.

They started out with good intentions, bringing diverse, professional reporting to tech journalism, but at some point in the last 6-9 months they seem to have converted into clickbait articles with misleading headlines, biased articles with an agenda (Maxx review), and finally things that are simply boring or uninteresting.

They've lost objectivity and focus.

I started to follow verge few months back ..and immediately stopped following there podcasts and articles ..because I found there articles/ reviews really biased ..specially nilay Patel he is the most irritating tech journalist I have ever seen

Really don't get how they knock the build quality either. I handled the Moto X in person and it feels like a cheap plastic toy. Anyone else compare the phones in person? Was no competition in my opinion. The Droid Maxx feels very solid and premium in comparison. Droid Ultra does feel kind of cheap though - not going to lie.

Wow, my sensory perception must be really off! I guess I can't trust it anymore. I went to my local Verizon store before I decided on an Ultra and was very impressed with the quality and great feel in the hand of the Ultra. The Maxx was great too, but I was not impressed with the Moto X. Thought it looked cheap. But I guess I can't trust any of that since you tell me the Ultra feels cheap. I thought it felt, and feels, very premium myself, but what do I know.

The vast majority of comments point out his obvious bias and bizarre take on what is a very well-received phone. He contradicts himself at every turn and some of his reporting is clearly made-up. That bit about missing a meeting because he overslept is an embarrassing shame. The only thing that would be worse than this stupid story would be if it were actually true. You have a new phone that you were trying out, with a brand new feature and you don't think to double check that the feature actually worked before you relied on it to get you to an important meeting. I'd let the guy go on that alone. No way that happened. Embarrassing.

Seriously. Though I really haven't seen much from the Verge, it's obvious that a lot people have. If I were managing editor over there and one of my guys was torpedoing our credibility with this garbage, he'd be out. Don't journalists have at least the tiniest bit of responsibility to report without agenda? Not meaning to sound naive here. I realize that everyone has an agenda to an extent. And people can manipulate data any way they want. I work in finance and have to wade through equities analysts reports daily. But you have to be able to prove your point. And if you're caught lying, I'm sorry but you are done. You'll never have an opinion anyone will trust or even listen to.

I wonder. This cat would be looking for work if I was his boss.

I like Nilay Patel because he is an attorney and, unlike most tech journalists, his legal analysis is generally worthwhile and not a wild-assed guess.

Reading the Ultra/Maxx review and then the Mini review shows a subjective difference that the editor should have caught. Either the Ultra/Maxx review should have been changed, the same writer who wrote the Mini review should have done all three phones, or the Mini review should be changed. You can't knock the Verizon bloatware and branding in two of the devices as the worst sort of stuff to have in a phone and then barely mention it in the Mini review. That's bad editing.

The Verge is like many other sites - read it with a sense of skepticism and you'll find quite a few articles and reviews that are worthwhile, while some are garbage. Unfiortunately, there is a lot of linkbait articles trolling for comments (though I think the Ultra/Maxx review was not one of those), and way too many that steal content from other sites (rather than quickly summarizing, showing a short quote, and linking to another site, the verge often rewrites somebody else's entire post with their own spin while practically hiding the source link.)
