droid no notification when plugged into computer

i am having some trouble with my new Droid 1 when i plug it into my computer via USB nothing happens no notification where i can mount it or anything Ive even tried putting music on it via micro SD but no luck please help my computer os is windows 7 home premium 64 bit

can you charge it? maybe a problem with the usb slot on the phone
