Droid owners feelings about possible "Google Phone."

The N1 does nothing for me anyway. I am completely content with my Droid. it does everything I want it to and a lot more. Not to mention the fact that it is on Verizon which is a lot better than t-mobile [at least here anyway]. It sounds like the N1 is just going to be a re branded HTC phone with Google's name on it.

Something cooler is always coming out. Yeah, we would all love to have THE cool phone for years, but the way things progress, we're lucky if we are the cool ones for 6 months.

Meh ~ two years from now when I go to update renew my contract there will be something better than the N1 out there ~:D

At first i was pretty mad that i got my droid and then a few days later the "Google Phone" was starting to get hype. However, after more info has been released what i once thought would be a phone by google that was VOIP/data only actually has turned out to really just be a new HTC built phone.

So no, i am not jealous or anything like that about the so called google phone, and i dont see a phone that will be better then the droid in the near future.

Blah

I was a tad upset when I heard the rumors but the more detail that comes out the less I care.

No keyboard? No go.

2.1? We will get it soon.

I love the droid - it's the best technology I've had in a very long time. You can't wait for the next thing or you'll always be waiting. If someone comes out with a phone with a top keyboard on Verizon thats 10 times faster and better in 6 months... I'll buy it.

That's not going to happen.

I even read a stupid article today saying that the Google Phone would be twice as fast as the droid because of the Snapdragon. Stupid because they aren't factoring in the graphics chip the Droid has dedicated that makes it just as fast.

More Android Phone more apps... and the Droid WILL be the dominant phone for the near future since Verizon is selling them and Verizon is the best. If we have the dominant phone all the apps will be written for us.

Keyboard

I still ask myself though why a flat keyboard... I see there is room there to have made blackberry style keys... poor design flaw.

The Google phone is nice. But I want the HTC equivalent with the Google phone having an active home screen I can't imagine sense with that ability a snapdragon processor it will be a beast

Not too worried either most likely they will use Verizon for their towers just like Onstar does so the phone might be useable by Verizon customers any way, just hope they dont use the technology for google voice to do their phone support who knows what it will think you just said.

Not worried, Droid is a great phone and we will get 2.1 soon enough.

I don't think us Droid owners have anything to worry about. The only thing I can see that the N1 will have over the Droid is the 1GHz snapdragon. The Droid will get Android 2.1, as we have already seen screen shots where it has been ported over. I think the web rumors have gotten out of hand. The N1 just looks like a new HTC phone for T-Mobile.

Assuming a snapdragon is actually better to have (the X10 has one and the Droid is still reportedly better)...and has there been official word on the actual specs of the N1? I'm sure it will be the same as the bravo/passion, but it's not actually been said.

Anyway, I have 0 interest in the phone because I love my Droid.

I can really care less.. theres been to much hype and i have my Droid so all is well.
I mean I can understand the hype because Android is really going for the complete take over here and so far their products have stood some ground. and they continue to work on it, improving it.. they always compare them to the iphone but the iphone has been around longer and its only one phone on one (sucky) network. Android has them on mulitpal networks and continue to come out with newer better phones then the last. They are really on to something, i'm interested to see how big they become a year from now.
The Droid has become a huge stepping stone, thats still growing... And then there are the window phones and well... there isnt much to be said on that topic.

Funny not one person agree with the OP lol. That is just amazing that there is not even a debate on this shows how great the Droid really is not much to complain about.

I think what it really boils down to is that most people here realize that the Nexus is WAY overhyped. The Droid's potential hasn't even been touched on yet, IMHO.

No betrayal here. The Droid community is going to be huge. We arent going anywhere, we just got here. :)

well to clarify...
i completely agree with all the posts. In fact, i have been loving my new Droid so much that i was nervous that ANYTHING could possibly make that feeling go away. With the assurance of you all, i am confident that wont happen. I think it is obvious that Android is the future and the Droid will be the device that springboards that into reality.

I'm sure the Nexus One will be a fantastic piece of hardware. Daresay, better than the Droid. I don't feel threatened or betrayed. I'm glad things keep getting better. Most of the time it's a leapfrog game. There will be many Android releases to come. All of the familiar players like HTC, Samsung and now Motorola will be coming out with releases in fast succession. Android is picking up.

I have no concerns. The droid is a solid phone and should only get better with future software updates. I am glad thought that I did a 1 year deal. New phones keep on coming, and being a gadget-a-holic, it would've been darn hard to wait two years to be able to upgrade again.
