Well like I reported yesterday, I successfully bootstrapped and was able to enter clockwork recovery. Here's some additional info:

Droid X bootstrap appears to work... can anyone verify this other than myself?

You can enter Clockwork Recovery only through the Reboot Recovery button in the bootstrap program.

I successfully backed up my Droid Pro with Clockwork version 2.5.0.6 which runs from the bootstrap. I have not tried a restore to see if it works... has anyone?

I have tried to rom manager and flash a new recovery. Upon restart, phone tries to enter clockwork recovery but freezes on load. I tried to get the phone flashed with the same recovery that is in the bootstrap program but no success.

This is where I am at. If anyone can share any new info, please do... I will continue on my side to try different things. I am also trying to get koush and tbh involved to help without success so far.

Thanks Everyone!

Is there a CM recovery yet for the DP? I haven't seen it come out yet. Maybe I'm confused - is recovery image generic across Android? Thought they had to write one for each device. I'm still very new.....

You are right... it does need to be written for each device... however with what seems to be a lack of excitement in the hacking community for the Dpro, we might be stuck looking for alternatives or using and slightly adapting what is out there. Koush who is a part of the group that builds clockwork and rom manager pretty much tweeted today saying that they are tired of android and its users, so we may never see anything

re-read that tweet. koush wasnt the one saying that, and note that whoever he was talking to said "droid and g1", not android in general. my only question would be did that person mean the droid line as a whole, or just the OG droid?

trust me, if a device is popular enough, rom makers will develop roms for it. it might take some time, but i will bet the pro will get at least a few roms at some point, if there is enough demand for them.

The key to getting Koush to work on a Clockwork Recovery for the Pro is if he can have a device (Pro) to use for a few days...you'll notice that he just completed creating CW Recovery for the Samsung Galaxy Tab because he was able to get some Tab owners to let him borrow their devices...

If someone wants to ship him their Pro to use, we would see a CW Recovery soon after... I cant afford to give up my business phone for that long, but would kick in some amount of $$ as incentive if it produces a CW Recovery...

Here is Koush's instructions for anyone that wants to send to him... http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/10/porting-clockwork-recovery-to-new.html

According to a Twitter post today from Koush via P3Droid, Droid2 Bootstrap available in the Android Market will work on Droid Pro and will provide Clockwork Recovery...must be rooted first which can be achieved by using z4root..

II would still feel much better if the recovery came out specific to the DP along with some Roms.

I'm with you on that, but sounds like it should work as long as you can make a backup of the stock ROM...

I rooted my Droid1 and got pretty comfortable with the process of installing Custom ROMs,themes, etc., but I'm a little gun shy on my Pro....gotta have the Recovery "safety net" for sure...

After seeing the Twitter post from Koush, I feel a little more comfortable...will probably use z4root to root and give the Bootstrap a try tomorrow...I'll report back and let you know how it goes...
