Droid Razr netflix hd is broken

Verizon Wireless advertised the Droid Razr as netflix HD capable. I have tried watching multiple netflix HD movies (Thor, Breaking Bad, etc.) and it is definitely streaming in standard definition. If I connect my Droid Razr to my TV via micro hdmi to hdmi, it still outputs the standard definition netflix on my 1080p TV.

It appears Netflix Hd on the droid razr was broken with the ICS update (ice cream sandwich) but it worked with gingerbread. Does motorola / verizon know about this issue and will it ever be fixed? It appears it has been broken since July.

Is anyone able to use netflix hd on the droid razr? I'm using my home wifi which is very fast and doesn't have issues streaming (buffering) netflix hd on a laptop.

Thanks!

I would assume that the fix would have to come from Netflix since their app isn't working properly.

How's your connection? I don't have Netflix anymore but when I did to get the best quality you need a good signal or wifi.

How do you tell the difference between Netflix HD and regular Netflix? I got my Razr as a CLN and I have never seen the letters HD after my Netflix app or even anywhere in the app. I got the phone after the ICS update so I never had any experience on GB, was this a GB only thing?

I use a fast wireless connection and am able to stream HD netflix to a laptop without issue. The quality is decent on the phone but definitely not HD (comparable to hbo go). I have a micro hdmi to hdmi connector and when using the hdmi output, it's very easy to tell that it is streaming standard definition to my 47'' 1080p tv.

I've streamed netflix HD from a laptop to a TV for a while and it's night and day difference between the laptop and phone. I was hoping that netflix hd would work on this phone...no idea why the ICS update appeared to break this...users of GB said it worked. I suppose the issue could be the netflix app but it appears the issue occurred around the same time ICS rolled out, which may or may not be a coincidence.

There are quite a few threads about this issue on other forums but all appears quiet from netflix, motorola, and verizon. I would love an official answer about whether they are going to fix this issue or not.

Are there any other phones out there that can stream netflix HD? I have about another 10 days to return this phone for a refund if I wish but like it overall...just wish it had netflix HD as advertised.

If you still have 10 days then I would take it back for something newer. I'm not trying to bash the phone but let's be honest, the Droid Razr is almost a year old and newer, bigger and better things are available. I would suggest the SGS3 or if anything wait another month or so and see what new things come out and if you still really like the Droid lineup then go for the newer Droid Razr HD or the Maxx HD.

It's impossible for it to be hd when the razr doesn't have an hd screen -_- it plays in HQ(high quality) which is close to hd, it has always looked perfectly fine on my phone even on 4g

But when paired with the HD Station the difference is obvious! A qHD resolution looks horribly pixelated when blown up to fit an HD screen.

I can still get a samsung galaxy s3 and have debated doing so...however, I've had two different verizon sales people discourage me. They both told me that the antenna on the motorola razr can't be beat and there are a lot of issues with reception on the s3. This is a phone first for me and I get spotty reception where I live but haven't had any dropped calls yet with the razr.

Besides the big screen, more processing power, and better camera, what are some other distinguishing features that would make the s3 a better choice than the droid razr?

I like the bigger screen on the s3 but it seems the battery life is terrible unless you are willing to get an extra battery. I also find it annoying that I have to buy a proprietary mhl hdmi adapter but it's a minor concern. Concerning the razr, I like that you can transfer files to it using a usb cable whereas the samsung requires additional installed software (how I understand it).

I've debated returning the droid razr for a refund (will have to pay a restocking fee...not sure how much Verizon charges) and waiting for the Droid Razr HD which should be out in month or two probably. I'm having trouble making a decision lol.

Verizon charges $35 for a restocking fee, you just have to be within the 14 day return policy.
I would wait and see whats new in a few months because the next few weeks are FULL of device announcements and launches. If you still like the Razr lineup even after seeing what HTC and Samsung have to offer then the Droid Razr Maxx HD would be a perfect fit.
