Droid turbo 2 contacts vanished

So I got my phone yesterday at Verizon and started setting up my Google account when all my contacts synced to my phone. So with everything good to go I went home. Well, come today I was fishing out at a nearby stream when I missed a call and I looked and saw the name and then continued fishing. About roughly an hour later without touching my phone, I get a call (which was a saved contact) and it didn't show a name. Curious at this point, I went into my contacts and noticed they all disappeared. So when I got home and started looking, my cloud, Google, and any account that had a backup no longer has a backup. So I'm a little confused at this point in what to do now.

Welcome to Android Central! Can you confirm that all of your contacts were originally saved to your Google account? Or could they have been syncing from Verizon Cloud?
