DROID TURBO 5.1 Lollipop: Chop Chop for Flashlight

I love this new feature. I never used the twist function for the camera that everyone gushed about (not dissing it, I just never tried/therefore used it), but the flashlight function is terrific; especially if you have to negotiate a screen unlock first -- plus, I never put my flashlight app on the home screen to avoid accidentally activating the LEDs. I admit, it took me a bit to figure out just the right angle and timing, but now that I have, I'm golden. I use my phone as a flashlight pretty regularly at work, so this has been a very welcome accessory in my tool belt.

For me, I point the phone down about 45 degrees, and two sharp shakes turns on the flashlight almost without fail.

My wrist is so sore now. I did get it to work a few times, but it's not worth the pain. I'm over 50 BTW.

I figured out why it didn't work for me. I had Moto actions disabled. Don't really like it or need it. Activated it and promptly threw my phone across the floor trying the flashlight. Thankfully Otterbox saved the day as I was laughing at myself.

You made my day

Mod Note - Some posts have been cleaned. Let's remember to follow P.U.P.P.A.H.

Thanks.

Don't use your wrist, use your arm. It's a "chop chop" motion like a tomahawk, not a "flick your wrist" motion like you're waving.

(a really hard/fast wrist chop works too, but it's more reliable for me without using your wrist).

Works nearly every time for me today. I wonder if the post lollipop update had any effect on it?

Anybody get the flashlight chop to work? Doesn't work for me
Y'all are nuts this **** works first try its called chop chop. Hold it in your hand normally rotate your wrist so one side (edge) yall will confuse that with front and back...bsi yea rotate so its got one side facing the ground and logically other towards the sky. No do a fluent and strong choo like your using a hammer. Idk how you guys are having trouble once you know what to do. Don't make it a short motion. If so the phones calibration will not now if ur trying to use camera the only fact is how u start the chop with the phone screen facing the wall will tell your phone the chop chop for the camera is about to happen. If you do it to fast the flip then chop its confused and it will not allow either to happen.. Made it long lengthy and explained for all if you so u can use this feature. PS its retardedly simple don't get all flustered and spastic or you'll screw it uo.. Good luck turbo fam

Yes, Giddy.

However, I had no idea that the same chop-chop motion also turns OFF the flashlight until my son showed me. Previously to knowing this, I had been swiping down my windowshade then turning off the flashlight.

Works fine for me on lollipop, although you have to do it pretty hard to get it to work. I'd just rather use the drop down...

I know this is ancient, but I got mixed results with the chop until I stumbled across the following tip:

Chop like buzz lightyear.

Worked much better once I started doing that...it's a more rigid motion than I had been using, with almost no wrist action.
