DROID TURBO: 5.1 Lollipop Update

I hope Moto/Verizon took this opportunity to remove the dead, OEM installed apps...Softcard, Quickoffice, etc.

Re: Droid Turbo: Lollipop software update?

Camera shutter is improved (quicker) from very horrible, but still not what I would call "good".

Still hard to take a photo of anything that might move in 2 or 3 seconds. Takes wonderful shots of bowls of fruit.

I have been a faithful Motorola customer (and 20 year ex-employee), but I will wait to see reviews before I buy another Motorola phone. I've heard enough lip service about how the camera on the Turbo was an improvement, but it was big step backwards from what was a mediocre camera on the Maxx.

Totally unacceptable considering the competition, and especially so this being a "Flagship" phone.

In regards to the update, I was mostly hoping it would fix the camera. For me, it did not. The rest of the changes are mostly eye candy: A couple cool things, a nice look overall, but all stuff I could have done without. Flashlight chop is broken as well. I feel like I waited a long time for nothing. Wish I would have kept my Maxx.

Okay so Ry... Why is every post in one massive thread getting copied to this one AND vice versa? I know you started a thread to break it up but it seems weird ya know?

I'm not mad or raging lol, but I find it weird. And you're a mod so.... I ask lol. Maybe there's a secret button you hit to copy everything.

The other thread that had 2000+ posts has been closed. If you try to access it from the app it redirects you to this thread. You can still access it from a web browser though. It hasn't been copied, just a bug(I assume its a bug, maybe they did it on purpose) in the app.

You talking about in 5.1 they still didn't fully fix the camera lag?

This is correct. The other thread was closed and this one has been opened. The other was talking about maybe being an update whereas this one is to talk about the update.

Lollipop is being soak tested but Motorola said Lollipop will begin rolling out to the masses sometime Wednesday afternoon. That's not to say you'll get it at that time because it goes out in waves but everyone should have it this week.

Im sorry i meant in this thread specifically, lol.
Ry sent us here from the 200 pre update speculation thread, full of complaints lol i agree.

I just meant here in a fresh thread soon to be post update.
So far it looks good here though.
Fingers crossed hopefully 5.1 was worth the "wait."

Unfortunately the Turbo has no OIS, which explains the the crappy shots of anything that isnt static.
But 20mp does make for great detail in still shots.
If i recall the Maxx had only 10mp plus no OIS? Correct me if im wrong.

Re: Droid Turbo: Lollipop software update?

Yeah, I can't believe it's slower than even most of the flagships of 2014! Oh well, it's a great phone otherwise and a beast. I wish and hope Motorola would fix it one day.

Re: Droid Turbo: Lollipop software update?

Looks good so far - at least my phone hasn't rebooted on its own :)
