DROID TURBO: Cases

Do be careful with that case, a couple of users reported that those 4 tabs pressed on and separated the ballistic nylon a bit.

I was wondering what the tabs were for - those weren't there for the version designed for the DNA I had before.

Even if it *did* dent the nylon, the shell will be on there 99.5% of the time anyway, so I'm not too concerned.

Anyone heard an update from Diztronic?
I've been emailing them and, kudos to them, they're excellent at responding in great time. The last response I got (Monday morning) was that they're unsure of a release date. Also, they're president is unsure of it as well. I'm going to guess it will be prior to Christmas. It'd be in their best interest financially to do that. Either way, I'm watching my inbox.

That looks exactly like the VSTN case I got from Amazon, which didn't fit my ballistic nylon turbo (and which they've since updated the product listing to say that).

When I initially emailed them, the rep told me the case would be out by Thanksgiving but obviously that's not going to materialize. There must be some sort of delay with the manufacturing process. Maybe it has to do with making two versions for the case.

I bit the bullet and ordered a Lifeproof for my BN. I talked to a rep about the muffled sound and echo issues that people have mentioned, and was told that they took their entire initial batch o' cases off of the shelves and replaced them recently with a redesign that addresses sound issues. Who knows what that means exactly, but that along with the 25% off on their website this weekend convinced me to go for it. The rep also said that it should fit the BN version with no issues.

It seems like I'm a rare bird around here because I'm wanting a case with port covers. Right now, there seems to be only the Lifeproof Fre, Otterbox Commuter and Defender. Trident told me that they're going to put out an Aegis in Jan. But I think that's it? I've used a Commuter and an Aegis before - they were both pretty good, but I'm hoping for something better.

I'm running around with this case on my BN edition phone, with flexible glass protector on the front (slightly lowered on the screen so that it doesn't cut halfway through the buttons). It's the shell holster case from Verizon.

A few reasons why I chose this one:
  • My phone won't fit in pocket, ESPECIALLY with a case on it - they don't make pockets in women's jeans a useful size anymore.
  • It provides a slightly raised border for the front, protecting the screen when phone is face-down.
  • It doesn't stick out from your hip very far at all, unlike the holsters from years ago that you'd hit your elbows on all the time.
  • I had one of these for my DNA, and it took the damage from drops instead of my phone. Not a ding on that phone by the time I retired it!
  • Haven't been able to try it with the Turbo yet, but with my DNA I was able to use the wireless charging just fine. Store was out of the wireless chargers, so I'm waiting for one to be shipped in from another store.
  • Doesn't obstruct any of the ports/buttons/etc.
  • Slides in and out of the holster securely, but smoothly. No need to undo an awkward-looking latch in order to retrieve your phone.

I use this case since I am fairly active at my job and phones have gotten to big and too fragile to keep in a front pocket, especially with my occupation.
Your points are right on. And it pops of easily when I'm done with work, since I prefer to not use a case outside of work.
In over three weeks now, I have had no issue with tabs indenting, or otherwise damaging the BN. I wonder if that is something that is assumed to could maybe possibly happen by someone who has never used the case...
I have the Tylt Vu wireless charger and it works with the case on.

I have the case and hesitant to use it - thanks for clarifying.

I like it. Even when not using the holster, it fits nice and seems like it would do an adequate job of protecting the device without adding a lot of bulk and providing a 'grippy' surface. I did look today after having the case on most of the day between being at work and working on my truck, and I did notice what some could consider 'marks' where the tabs come in contact with the BN if I really looked and held it at the right angle when I first took the case off. Hours later, I tried but could see no 'marks'. Could have been dust where the openings are.

Who makes this case?

Turbo 64GB Beast
This case is great. Beat case I have felt on a phone in a long time.

Thin but phone feels safe. Protects the screen. Fits well with glass protector and amazing grip.

No issues with qi charging either.

It appears to be a spigen sold as a generic mass produced my China. I have order from this seller before for my note 3 and they look like spigen say spigen. This one has the same interior design as spigen just doest say it anywhere.

Overall worth the 5 dollars would have paid 15 now that i have it in my hands.

Let me add this I have a note 4 I was using until I got this case back on my turbo now. and loving it.

Got my first ding last night. On the bezel. Made me mad at myself for being clumsy. Any bezel only cases out there that leave the back exposed?
Brian see my previous post. I had the same issue. Dropped the phone onto a table. No ding but paint chip on chrome part. The case I posted before covers the bezel and feels great in hand.

Re: droid turbo cases?

Stay away from the life proof case unless you need the protection. It makes it hard to reach on screen buttons and it muffles sound.

I totally agree. I had the lifeproof on for a few days and I thought the phone was broken. No one could hear me.

Re: droid turbo cases?

I have the Droid Ballistic Nylon phone and had some trouble knowing which cases would fit as it is just a bit thicker than the other Driod models. Here is how my search came out which I hope can save others some work.

- Initially I was using the $19 Timpuk2 3way Accessory case I already had. Beautiful inside and out but will only fit a naked Droid Turbo. Really nice case and well thought out belt system.

- My wife has the Droid BN with the Motorola Flip Case. I really liked the case and its fit around the phone. Quality case. If you search the play story for "Motorola flip case" there is a software update that improves the function of the case. However, I needed a different case than my wife.

- I tried two different cases at the Verizon corporate store. The $35 Speck CandyShell fit perfect and felt terrific gripped in my hand. The DualPro Incipio also fit perfect and I bought it for $30. Would have been happy with either.

I also have the very sturdy $15 Nite Ize extra large Sideways clip case which fits the phone & Incipo perfectly for riding around on my belt while working.

I may add a screen protector, although I feel well protected and not too much bigger.

For my 64 gig ballistic nylon...... I had the lifeproof case for a few days and returned it for the muffle sound and made it difficult to hit the bottom buttons... Went to the OtterBox Commuter case (fit perfectly)had it for about a month... totally happy with it ....dropped it a few times including into a basin full of water with no problem.. Don't use a screen protector for Gorilla Glass 3 holds up pretty well
