Droid Turbo: Lollipop software update?

This guy's got 2 total posts and they're the exact same one in two different places. I don't believe he has the turbo. . . . . .
I agree, probably either wrong forum or side loaded the apk.

That said, the update is wreaking havoc on the Nexus devices as evidenced by our own forums here and in many of the tech related sites. As I said above, very uncharacteristic of Google and no doubt they'll get a handle on it. I don't know what avenues are available for the more seriously impacted users, especially those with tablets, who are left with an unusable brick though.

I'd like to see some feedback as to how it's running on the Moto x and g. I think that'll be the true tale of what we're looking at for the turbo.

Be glad that Turbo was not in front of the line to get this. These problems, while regretful, will hopefully result in a better update experience for us.

I hope that the Turbo does not get the update until 5.0 is really ready. All you have to do is look at the Android Central 5.0 forum to see how many problems people are currently experiencing with 5.0. I know that each new major OS update has bugs, but at this point it looks scary, to say the least.

Even if it's available by the end of December, I won't accept it until next April or later bc I really like how my phone is setup right now and don't want to start the setup all over again (with more bugs). I never do an Android version upgrade without an FDR, and although it helps the phone function much better for the new version, it is very painful and time consuming to start from scratch.

PS. I'm using the SkipLock app for trusted Wi-Fi and that makes the 5.0 update pretty irrelevant to me since battery life is already great, the camera is more than adequate for me and I could care less about material design.

A reasonable strategy.

4. Will you fix my wife's Droid Razr M that VZW and Moto destroyed with KitKat OTA? Seems like all the Moto reps from their official Moto forums have moved to China with no forwarding address LOL

5. Please let Santa know that I want Lollipop before all the other bad kids.

When the RAZR M KitKat update first came out Moto/VZW accidentally reopened a security hole that allows the bootloader to be unlocked. Once done you can flash back to JB if you want with RSDlite. Check over on XDA is the RAZR M forums.

I love my Droid Turbo. And I have faith in Motorola. If it were left up to them solely, the Turbo would get Lollipop lightning fast. Unfortunately, it's not just up to Motorola and while I understand Verizon wants to make sure that 5.0 is as bug free as possible by the time it rolls out, I just don't have a lot of faith that Big Red will be terribly proactive. I hate to be a cynic but if Verizon rolls out Lollipop to the Turbo much before December 31st, I'll be pleasantly surprised. If it's not until next year, I'll be disappointed but not the least bit shocked.

I think it would be in VZW interest to get it out quick. A good sales point for the Turbo. Having said that I see a lot of problems on other devices so a delay may not be bad. On the Podcast today Jerry made the statement that most of the problems were on non Moto devices. I will wait for a little bit to kill all the bugs .

Really if you think about it this is a very new device. I just wonder how many they sold. Might be waiting for the numbers to get bigger. I do believe that Moto and VZW are going to wait until the release is bug free and working 100% because everyone blames the device not the software.

From some of the news stories about the problems related to the release of 5.0, a short delay might be advantageous. Remember there is a very small difference between the cutting edge and the bleeding edge.

I agree. Our Turbos are working great right now. Don't throw an update at us that's not ready for prime time!

The new update arrived on my phone about 3:30 pm PST and I uploaded it.
Still did not fix my problem with the email photos not saving. See my thread.
Here is the issue for me:
On the new Droid Turbo which was just released last week, Photos received in Email will not save to gallery. If you highlight a photo received in email, you will see three red buttons at the top right of the photo. Click on that and you will get options reading save, save all, share and share all. The save and save all functions do not work. You can not save to gallery or anywhere else on the phone.
In the Text function, if you receive a photo and highlight the photo, a message options box pops up and the last option is save attached to gallery.

Why can't you do this in email? This is a very important task and it does not work. I just got back from Verizon and nobody there could explain and it did not work on any of their phones either. We think it is a software glitch.
Is this happening to you too?
Got any answers???

If you go into the gallery app and press the three line control top left and then choose "albums" do you see those photos anywhere? Like in "Download"?

If you're having problems with the email app, it really is a crappy mail app, and I suggest trying another app, like K9 mail.

By the way, your problem has nothing at all to do with lollipop, which hasn't been released yet...

Verizon is sending out OTA update for 2014 Moto X today. That's pretty damn fast by Verizon's standard. Look more promising that the Turbo will get its update before Jan. Though I'll probably not update right away and wait to see if all the lollipop bugs have been resolved.

So far, reports are positive - fingers crossed.

On par with last year's Moto X.

Still don't have it for my 2013 Nexus 7 WiFi

Hey folks, I just talked to Motorola tech support and thought I'd give it a shot in the dark and ask. The guy told me that the Lollipop update for the Droid Turbo is scheduled for Dec 16-17. He said it after a brief pause - seemed to me like he was looking it up, as opposed to pulling an estimate out of thin air. That was a rather specific answer and up until now I haven't heard this anywhere at all. I did a double-take and asked again to be sure - yup, no joke! Who knows if he'll be right or not.

I actually signed up for these forums (after lurking for quite awhile) just to relay this. Don't shoot the messenger if turns out not to be true! :p Can't wait!
