I have a rooted MOTO Droid and I was curious about a few things. I know there are apps out that allow text messages of sorts to be sent and apps that have some sort of calling feature. Now my question is are what are the best apps to do this? My ultimate goal is to pretty much have a working phone that doesn't need a carrier just a simple WiFi connection.

Also. Can two different phones use the same gmail account?

Skype can do the calling works through the WiFi,which doesn't need any carriers....

About message, lots of apps can reach your ultimate goal....In China, we use the Tencent QQ to chat in the internet.....you can try MSN , Skype , Yahoo and so on.....

The same gmail account has no problem......But Google only remeber the lastest sync-thing from the lastest-sync phone.........

Skype for calling (except the call quality is only good if both people are on WiFi connections).

Grooveip is well worth the few dollars and is the absolute best thing going for wifi calling. google voice will let you text for free
