Settings> Sound > Media audio effects > wired stereo devices OR phone speaker

In wired stereo devices > enable audio effects ... then select profile settings

I was using Bose headphones turned up loud the settings I used made the music sound clearer

I found that the best sound is

Effects Profile > Custom

Surround > Off

Equalizer > Balanced

I can second this. Basically, false surround sound virtualization will ruin almost all of the audio you hear always. What Sheepdog suggested is what I found to be the best choice for music, games videos you name it.

I'm willing to bet that most headphones, and possibly stereo systems you're using don't produce bass very well anyways, so this is going to do little for you. Lots of people claim that using EQ settings on the phone eats extra battery also...
