Droid X Forum Member Initial Thoughts & Reviews

The best phone I have owned and I have owned them all. I have had the Eris, Incredible, Droid 2, Fascinate, Thunderbolt, and now the X.

I am sold on Motorola over HTC and the new Blur is really nice. Thats right I sold my Thunderbolt and brought a new Droid X. Why you ask?

-Thunderbolt has a front facing camera....(I never used it)
-Thunderbolt has a cool kickstand....(I agree I loved the kickstand, but not a needed feature. The paint was also chipping off on the kickstand...there is a forum on it)
-Droid X is much lighter and thinner
-Battery Life has been stellar on my Droid X in comparison to the TB (This is pretty much my experience with any HTC phone)
-I live in a 3G area and so why own a 4G phone (I know this contradicts me getting the Bionic)
-The speaker on the X sounds louder and crisper than the TB (At least to my untrained ears)
-Droid X Keyboard (All I can say is wow again this is based only on my experience but I love the stock multi touch keyboard on the X)
-The overall screen dimensions and color management are better on the X.
- HDMI out (kind of like the camera on the TB, I do not use it but nice to know I have the option)
-The Droid X off contract is over 200 dollars less expensive than the TB

Oh well I guess that is a good start.

I played with the DroidX for two days and two things killed it for me. The terrible battery life. I know that it is typical for Android phones to have crappy batteries, but I get well over 24 hours with my Moment so I was expecting more than 6 hours out of it. The second thing that kills this phone for me is the non-existent Corporate Email Sync. We are a very email heavy company, that I am trying to move into the 21st Century with Android, but the Droid X killed that dream for me.

Mind you I didn't root it because it's a demo phone. I couldn't possibly justify this phone to my superiors based on the fact that I could root the phone to make it better, when the Crackberries work exactly as we need.

It's sad really.

So you expect a powerful smartphone to last you a full 24 hours? I have never used a single smartphone that last extremely long. Plus how hard is it to charge every night? And my bad, Blackberry phones are great, wait need to do a battery pull. I truly love them, wait I got to pull my battery. Goodnight everyone, gotta do one final battery pull. Oh screw! -goes back to android- Ah...this is more like it :p
