Droid X graphics performance and Froyo JIT compiler question

so i saw the video showing the galaxy S having much better 3D graphics performance than the droid x and it got me wondering. once the X gets froyo, will the just-in-time compiler increase graphics performance? i'm not familiar with what the JIT actually does except mysteriously increase speed somehow. once the droid x gets froyo, will the discrepancy between the dx and the galaxy s be diminished to the point where 3D graphics performance is negligibly different between the two phones? anyone know ?

My nexus going from 2.1 to 2.2 saw a large performance increase, and expectations are the droid x will see a big jump once 2.2 hits

There's isnt that much of a difference between the two as it is, I'd expect it to stay the same once they both have Froyo.

Well that sucks. So much for getting the x.

Meh, twice as fast in a benchmark does NOT equal twice as fast in real life applications.

2.2 and JIT will speed up CPU-intensive tasks (where the two phones are almost equal currently), but if the improvement in the Nexus One proves typical, the increase in speed will be so large that the current differences will be dwarfed to the point of not mattering a whit.

Honestly, the main reason I'm avoiding the VZ Galaxy S model is it's late time to market (I presume they want to clear the deck for the X for a while), the poor camera (which I use literally hundreds of times more often than a 3d game) and the generally poor build quality/experiences I've had with Samsung products (I only claim those as my own experiences, and realize that others will have different ones...put the pitchforks).

Performance differences as many have pointed out will be negligible. Still one panging difference though, LCD vs. Super AMOLED.

I have to admit I am sometimes jealous of my girlfriends Incredibles screen lol

They are sharp. My wife and I originally started looking at Verizon seriously about a month ago. I wanted the Incredible in a bad way. I really wanted an HTC device. But they kept pushing the ship date back. Then they changed from AMOLED to LCD and that sealed the deal for me.

I can have a 4.3 inch LCD right now, or wait 2 weeks for a 3.7 inch LCD that may just get pushed back again. Not to mention X has separate GPU. The decision became really clear.

What I would really like to see next year is an HTC 4.0 inch Super AMOLED on a VZW LTE network. The things wet dreams are made of.
