Droid x or Fascinate

I have both phones and I will give the edge to the X for the simple and most important reason first......it's a phone first. Call quality and RF are better.....period on the X.

Battery life is better on the X. The X battery takes only 45 minutes to charge and the Fasinate battery takes 3 hours plus.

Enough of this camera crap. It's a fricken phone. The X takes very good pictures as does the Fascinate.

I just don't like the feel of the Fascinate in my hand. It's slippery and I don't want to put a cover on it. I prefer going naked and enjoying my phone. With the X, I feel like I am carrying something of substance.

For gaming.....I just don't care enough about it to say anything.

Data......the Fascinate at first really looked good when it came to browsing the web. It's a tad faster then the X sometimes but for the most part, they load pages equally.

The screen on the Fascinate is gorgeous! The X is very good and with the extra real estate, I don't miss the gorgeous screen of the Fascinate.

If phone quality is your most important criteria, then the X may be better as I hear it is quite good. I want a pda that I can make calls on. So the camera is important to me.

I will put my 2 cents in. I also have both devices and they both have there good points. I love the fascinate. The screen is killer and the weight is prefect. But one thing I had been having problems with was getting my work email to sync up correct. It just never worked right. But my yahoo and gmail worked perfect. So I got the droid x and it seems to be doing all my emails perfect. I love the screen size of the x but the fs has the better screen. I guess my final thought is that at this time the functionality of the x seems to be above the fs right now and after the 2.2 update I'm getting excellent battery life.

Lets not get all caught up with Froyo on the Fascinate. If Froyo had not come out, I would still be happy with my X. Froyo is not all that it's cracked out to be. I have said many times before that you are getting your hopes up for something thats not a big deal. Yeah, Froyo has some good things on it but for the most part, it's pretty blah.

Someone explain to me how Froyo is Armagaden time for the X when the Fascinate gets it?

Sorry folks, Froyo is just going to make the Fascinate another phone with Froyo, no big deal.

Are you serious froyo improves cpu usage that will increase performance by around 300 percent. And froyo hitting the best rated processor on the market (hummingbird) is going to be armageddon. Your linpack score on the x is around 15 or so with 2.2 drop yourself down to 2.1 and youll be around 6. Its going to be crazy once it hits.

First off I love the fascinate and wouldn't trade it for any device.

2.1 linpack scores for the droid x are about 8 and change, not 6.

Also I've seen a hummingbird processor running 2.2. The galaxy tab I got a chance to play around with.

I benchmarked it using linpack. Scores were not that impressive either. Didn't see a 300% jump in linpack scores. Then again many people say that linpack scores are inexact.

Don't expect a huge jump in linpack scores once you get Froyo.

From the looks of the 2.2 issues being reported in the X forums, it's (the X) is probably worth avoiding for the time being.

I think the fascinate great, but I'm on my 2nd phone. The problems on my last fascinate were:
Gmail totally stopped working
Bluetooth stopped working
Contacts pics (pulled from FB) are terrible.

All were fixed with new phone except for the pics, they continue to be horrendous...and I never get Notifications on FB updates at all.

I'm in the same boat with you only I'm choosing between taking back the fascinate for a Dinc or just waiting for the new q4 crop.

I think the 4.0 screen size is definitely awesome and 3.7 on the Dinc is the only thing holding me back. I'm driving myself nuts about this! Now a source over at Vz has told me that Samsung is releasing a 2ghz Android this year. Sounds nuts but he said its definitely happening, adding to my insanity.

2ghz this year? Seems like a big jump in speed. Especially since the Fascinate just came out.

I like the Fascinate better than the X.
Feels snappier. I like the screen size better.

I have the pixelated Contact photos issue as well. Is this a system software issue or a Facebook app issue? I can't imagine it has anything to do with the hardware.

Also--this isn't Fascinate-specific--I wish there were better integration with LinkedIn available on Android. You'd think Android's formidable, growing market share would be reason enough for the company to put a bit more development-love into its app. Synergy on Palm's webOS was amazing.

Having said all that, I really do like this device. The screen is a feast for the eyes, and its overall size is large enough to make the on-screen keyboard a breeze to use, while its svelte profile and light weight make it an accomodating travel companion. And while the software can seem just a tad unpolished at times, it isn't nearly bad enough to undermine the phone's entire value proposition. In any case, the combination of a lively Galaxy S development community with an unlocked bootloader promises lots of ROM-flashing excitement to come along soon enough.

Having used the droidx a lot I don't think it compares to fascinate. I have fantastic battery life no lag and no issues at all. As for a 2ghz processor I don't know about that. I read a possible 1.5 by end of year but I don't think we will see anything higher than that yet.

What about the voice to text functionality? I don't have an Android phone yet, but one of the cooler things I've read about are the voice to text features. I know you can add the Google Voice Search icon to the homescreen after you install Google Maps, but isn't Bing's voice to text sucky when using it in a text entry box like in a text message or email? I tried it a couple of times on a friends Fascinate and thought it wouldn't recognize my voice as well.

I've heard that the fascinate gets a weaker signal under the same conditions as the Droid X. Can anyone who has used both confirm/bust this?

I'll be honest with you, I got the X first three days later i swapped it for the fascinate, the X has physical buttons that were making me crazy, hard to push and why phisycal buttons in the first place? now the processor on the Fascinate is way beyond superior to the one on the X, as soon as i got the X i updated it to froyo and even with it my fascinate is way faster specially talking about graphic display...now the GPU is way better on the Fascinate as well, the X is a great phone but I would say the fascinate is just a higher level....both phones have media share through network so i share my videos and pics through my PS3 to my tv with no wires, so the HDMI output on the X is not missed here...the camera in both phones are basically the same, the X has an 8 mp and the Fascinate 5, but you cant tell a difference unless you print the pictures all big...Ive had every phone in the market, Iphones, blackberries, droid 1 rooted, and all i can say is that the FASCINATE is the best phone ive ever own and I cant imagine how amazing it will be when we get the famous FROYO...

Oh yeah and Did i mention that the video player is compared to the universal VLC player? which means that it almost plays any video file on earth?...my wife took a .3gp format video on her phone sent it to my X and couldnt play it, after I got the FASCINATE i reopened the message and it was able to play it perfectly...It plays everything! divx, avi, mp4, xvid, 3gp etc etc etc...
