Forgive the noobness here but in case it actually IS "news"... Tried to buy a new Droid X mid week at my local Verizon store - Outta stock.
Sales guys calls me earlier tonight saying they had received 50 so I dashed down. As he was ringing up the sale and prepping the contract info, I was playing with the Droid. Tilted it to far right and boom, screen rotation clock-wise.
Needless to say, it was a race to check the phone information to confirm that 2.2 WAS native on the phone. A couple of other employees grabbed phones from stock and verified that of the first 3 pulled, all had 2.2 pre-installed.
I live in a podunk little town so I'm sure if we have it, major areas got them today as well. Still a noob to Android coming over from iPhone but have to say that the "native" 2.2 hasn't shown many of the problems the OTA 2.2 installs have reported.
So for what it's worth to anyone awaiting this to drop, check your dealer. It appears to have happened and a lot sooner than many expected.
