I have been on Verizon forever, and was a long time hold out for the iPhone. Since that hasnt happened over the past year, I decided to pull the trigger on the X. I've been watching all of the reviews about it etc........ Called my local store at 10:30 this morning and put one on hold. Walked in around noon, and out at 12:30 with my new X. There were about 30 people in the store and I think 29 of them were getting the X.

I bought my Incredible when it first came out 2 or 3 months ago. I got it with a 1 year contract. I wasn't eligible for an upgrade until March 2011. But for some reason I decided to check this morning at my account online and it was showing 2 year pricing on my line. Must be a glitch in Verizon's system? Not sure but I got to order the X with a 2 year contract even though I wasn't eligible. I got an email that it was shipped and everything. So now I can sell my incredible on Ebay and I pretty much got the X as a free upgrade.
I went down to my local VZW at 0600 for a 0800 opening. Turns out I was # 1 in line and promptly at 0800 they opened and 11 minutes I was on my way talking to my brother.
The only bummer is I got the desktop charger for the Droid not the Droid X. I have to go back to exchange later today.
Other than that I am loving my new device. The size is no problem for me and my wife will appreciate the Incredible I will give to her.

Not sure if its a success story but this is how I got my X.
Yesterday I called Walmart to see if they had any because I read that they had a few and not many people would think to goto Walmart so I did. Called and spoke to a lady at the phone department, asked her if they had the Droid X in and she said they had 2. I begged her if she'd put it on hold for 5 min as I'd come right in to get it. She said welllll... were not supposed to but ok. I was excited! so I raced down to the store, speed walked to the phone department and saw it. She handed it to me and sure enough, a verizon rep comes up to me and says sorry we cant until tomorrow. I was bummed so I just started asking him a bunch of questions an stuff about the device. Sure enough 10 min later of just hanging around the department, the rep comes up to me and says here, we'll sell it to you. I was happy as all hell. Bought it, and walked out with a huge smile
So there you have it. I purchased it the day before the launch even though the rep said I wasnt supposed to

Showed up to Best Buy right when they opened and got my preorder, it was a pretty smooth process I didn't get to charge it much though and now I'm at work with battery dying!

I called the VZW store at 9:15 am (thinking they opened at 9 am) and they had two left in stock, which I quickly put on hold till I got there. They actually had opened at 8 am and had a line prior to opening, so I was fortunate they had some by the time I called.
The set up was quick and easy, and customer service was top notch. I give props to Travis, the CSR who helped me out; he was awesome in taking care of my phone. If you guys go to the VZW Store in Ontario, California, Travis is great and will help you out as much as he can.

I Got Mine
Yesterday I made an appointment with my local Verizon store for 8AM when they opened. I arrived early, at 7AM and they were already open.
I found out they only had gotten 20 units and thank goodness, one was being held for me or I would have had to wait until tomorrow for one to be shipped to me to get it.
Then when I got home, I couldn't get online or access the Android Market. After 2 calls to tech support (the first gave me NO support really...the second person was great), I found out that the guy at Verizon "activated" my Droid when my iPhone was still turned on and it didn't work. Once I activated it myself with my iPhone turned off, I had no problems.
I am busy playing, learning and downloading. So far this thing is great and a welcome change from my iPhone.

I hit up the biggest corporate VZ store this morning and they had 30 on hand. By the time I got done waiting in line to return my Pre, they'd sold all 30! Yeah, I was a little annoyed.
After checking all the Best Buy and Verizon stores multiple times throughout the day (including mall kiosks) and just as I was about to give up, I stopped at a Wal-Mart. They got one in yesterday and nobody had even asked about it! It was kind of an older hole-in-the-wall Wal-Mart and they didn't even know what it was or that it was in such high demand.
Got it for $199 with no activation fee. It did take quite a long time for them to get it set up, and they wouldn't match the $50 Let's Talk online discount but oh well, I got me a DX!
Basically, I got lucky!
On a side note, as a self-professed WebOS and Apple f4nb0y, I was skeptical about how much I'd like this phone. I have used a Hero for work and wasn't especially fond of it. But so far I'm loving the Droid X!

So you guys will love this... about 10 months ago I got the Droid Eros, and have had to have it replaced twice, only to have it go whacko again. So I called Verizon and told them enough is enough, you guys don't even sell this piece of crap anymore because of the issues, and I want a new model. They said they would send me the Incredible for free, and I would have it in 2 days. Well 2 days later, no phone, so I call... You will have your phone by July 28th!!! WTF??? I said no way... what about this new one you have coming out this month? (This conversation took place on Friday, July 2nd) She says hold on, let me check with my supervisor... comes back on and says, fine, I will have a new Droid sent to you overnight for Saturday delivery. Next day I get a package, open it up, and tada!! The new Xtreme... and 12 days before it is even released.. and for free!!! I have to say, although I have been with Verizon since '95, I don't think I will have to look for a new carrier anytime soon!
As far as the phone.. well the Ringer volume sucks, I always tend to hit the camera shutter button while I am holding it and talking (to no obvious ill affects though), and man, is the processor fast as hell!!! I love it, and have been using it a lot the last 2 weeks with no major issues!
