Droid X to Droid Incredible?

I got my x on launch day and I love android, but I'm not a big fan of the motorola skin or the locked bootloader. It's kind of big too but that's not that big of a deal. Right now I'm using launcher pro because that's as close as I can get to sense, and I love the sense ui on the dinc. I have until the 15 to decide but I don't want them to run out of stock again. And what's the difference between the new and the old screen type on the dinc. Thanks.

I have the dinc and I'm switching to the X. I love the incredible, but the battery life is horrible. The guys I know with the X all make it through the day with moderate use. My dinc loses more than 50% of its batter just sitting in my office throughout the day. That is completely unacceptable. The sense user interface is a bonus and I'll probably miss it to some degree. However, android is so customizable that I'm sure you can get pretty close to sense. Sure, some the widgets that come with an htc phone won't be on the x, but nothing I won't be able to live without.

Dinc has worse antennae signal and battery life. And the Dinc feels like a toy all plastic and cheap feeling.

I'm not fan of SenseUI myself. I played with it and found it a tad sluggish, compared to my Nexus and now my Droid x.

I had the Incredible, but gave it to my son when I got the X. Both are good devices. I didn't find the Incredible to be cheap feeling, as others suggest. In fact, I appreciated that it was nice and light. I liked the Sense UI (probably better than the modified Moto Blur on the X). My son handed me the Incredible last night, and after using the X for several weeks, the Incredible feels really small. That could be a selling point for some, but I like the larger screen on the X. Battery life is also much better on the X.

Notwithstanding legitimate issues, such as battery life and signal reception, the choice is very subjective. When all is said and done, only you can determine what's best for you.

HOw are the keyboards different? Is the X a better multi-touch input system than the dinc. I have a droid 1 now and can't stand typing on the on screen keyboard.

I own both the DX and D-INC . I dont feel the D-Inc to be toyish feeling either.I used both the Incredible and DX for texting and seems to be about the same just the DX has a larger keypad (of course it's got a bigger screen Duh , :p)
I have had the Incredible longer and would never give it up for the DX which I didnt . I have nothing against the DX either .My side by side web browsing test shows a tie as far as speed .Neither of my devices are laggy.I happy to have them both .:)

PS; My signal strenght of my D-INC is exactly the same as my DX which avg in the low -80dBm, (highest being -90dBm lowest being -73dBm),also my incredible has great battery life over 14 hrs on stock battery so far

the incredible has an AMOLED screen, the droid X has an LCD screen. amoled has much more vibrant colors, deep wet blacks, the colors are superb. but it uses pentile sub-pixel layout, so text is a little fuzzy. whereas the LCD on the droid X will show sharp text that is super crisp.

the incredible keyboard is the HTC IME one, which you can install for free on any android phone. unless motorola did something different to lock that out, you can try the HTC keyboard on the X. but it will come with sense UI on the incredible anyway. HTC Sense is arguably the best android skin of all the manufacturers by far. my choices are either using stock android (which i prefer and use on my nexus), or i would go with Sense if i had to choose a second.

I only see one question from the OP, and it's better target at Incredible owners, so moving it to the Incredible forum.

Edit, not that X owners can't answer the question BTW, just seems like it goes here more than there :p

The new Dinc doesn't not have amoled any more

Completely false information. (EDIT: Maybe it is correct. missed the double negative)

ALL HTC Incredibles are currently shipping and being manufactured with AMOLED screens. HTC has chose other models to switch to LCD and keep Incredible with AMOLED.

So to answer the question, there is NO difference since the screens have not changed.

There is an update coming out for Incredible that is addressing signal and call quality issues (that some, not all have). Froyo is going to also help with battery life.

I have the Incredible and have a chance to move to the X. I am not going to do this at this point because I prefer the Incredible. Nothing against the X, just prefer the incredible.

I checked out the X one last time before my 30 days were up on my DInc and I'm sticking with the DInc.

The X seemed sluggish to me -had to tap more than once to get several apps to open, scrolling through apps wasn't as smooth as the DInc, the speaker wasn't as loud, and the widgets were no where near as nice as Sense UI.

The phone was almost too big too. I couldn't imagine putting that thing in a holster in my belt, plus it wouldn't be compatible with all my old BB Storm stuff that works perfectly with my DInc (car holder, holster, etc).

My DInc felt very small in my hands after fiddling with the X, but my iPod Touch seems a lot smaller now that I've had the DInc for a month now too.

The X is a good phone, but I like the DInc better, and it will be getting even better with the new Froyo update soon (720p video, etc)...

Thanks for your opinions. I'm still undecided, but I'm going to check out the incredible in the verizon store. I do like my x but i feel like it's not as 'portable' as I would like a phone to be. It's definitely going to be a tough decision though.:p

That's what I was going to suggest you do. Go into the store, and just play with it. I found the Droid Incredible be more snappy, and it felt better in my hand. The X felt huge, and honestly a little sluggish at times.

I do like the X's keyboard, but you can get that on the Incredible (I believe). Basically, see which phone fits you best. I think you'll like the Dinc, just because it is smaller and you say that the X isn't portable enough.

Also, battery life hasn't been a major issue for me. I can easily get through a day with moderate to semi-heavy use of the web, tweeting, texting, email, and calling. So I really wouldn't knock it there, especially with Froyo's better battery life.

If you are the type who wants to mess around with things, well, you kind of have an easy decision. The X has a locked bootloader, and the Incredible doesn't. You can flash ROMs anywhere anytime on the Dinc. The X? I don't believe so.

Anyways, good luck in the end!

Ya the unlocked bootloader was nice because I know I would always have the option down the road to flash roms if they decided to stop updating or it took too long.

I checked out the X the other day and I'm VERY happy I went with the DI. There simply wasn't ANYTHING about the X I liked better.

Now, when the Fascinate comes out, that may be a different story. ;)

What app would I download to have the incredible's keyboard on the X? I liked being able to hold a key down to access the numbers or symbols associated with that key and not having to hit a shift key to do it.

thanks!:)
