Droidvim can only see directories and not files

If I get a listing of the internal storage (/storage/emulated/0) from within DroidVim, I can see directories and the directories within them, but cannot see or access normal files. Is this due to some security constraint placed on apps by the operating system?

Running Android 12 and the current version of DroidVim.
