Anyone else with a DroidX getting reboots when plugging into USB on your computer?
My phone is rooted and thats it, no rom.
I installed JRUMMY DroidX overclocker and Titanium Backup and froze VZW apps but it did that before I did any of those.

There was another thread on this subject, and it seems to happen no matter what. I am rooted, on an iMac and it does it to me too. PC, rooted, unrooted. Bleh. Doesn't seem to matter.
Can't sync with iPhoto anymore either. Just another thing that got borked in the last update.

It appears that the main issue that cause the driver loading issue is a conflicting drive already installed at time the correct driver is loaded but the old driver wasnt being uninstall automatically, if you or any one run into this issue again the trick is to open the Motorola Driver Installer.exe that is in startmenu under Motorola folder and select the "CLEAN AND REINSTALL" option from app and select start and all old drivers will uninstall and the correct drivers will be loaded... I was able to duplicate the driver install issue twice and both times I was able to fix with these instructions..

Thanks. Will give it a shot once I boot up my computer.

Sad because I rarely use my laptop now since I got my droid.

Ok ill be honest I just skimmed through this thread but I had the same problem I had rooted my dx using z4root and after that it would reboot everytime I plugged in the usb so I thought for a few days and came up with the idea it might be because I moved apps to the sd card b4 the root so I took a min and moved all the apps back to the phone and sure enough my phone stopped rebooting I think it had to do with de mounting the usb which could have caused a system error with a running app somewhere along the line anyways its late and I know this is a big run on sentance but I hope this solves that problem for someone else I dont think it was the rooting but more so apps on the sd malfunctioning when in usb debugging mode or w.e

Wildman, that seems to have done the trick. Thanks a lot for the tip.
Do you use the "Safely Remove Hardware" tool in the sys tray before you disconnect? I have been out of fear of the unknown...

Glad it worked for you and no I so not use option but I make sure to unmount my device every time before I unplug device (but it may not hurt to use the "Safely Remove Hardware" tool in the sys tray) ,,, This works well for me.

On your phone
Settings > Applications > Developement and make sure USB debugging is unchecked

Plug in your phone
On your computer go to My Computer and you should see a Motorola Icon or something labeled "Motorola". Open that and you will see the .exe.

I don't want to rain on anyones parade but that's not the problem as my phone, and others, have the same random reboot when just plugging it into a wall charger or car charger. This "feature" popped up after the last update.

That's strange because my device has been running on point, did you hard reset before you updated because settings from previously installed apps has been known to cause conflicts and this is why i hard reset before a OS upgrade. The OS update changes system files and this usually can cause all kind of issues.

In your case you may want the reset to remove old files.

Don't have random reboots. Just when pluggin the usb. Root the phone then titanium backup then hard reset then re root and ttanium to restore.

I was having this problem too - my DX would reboot whenever I plugged into USB and mounted the SD card. It happened on any OS I tried (Windows, OSX, and Linux) so it wasn't related to Motorola drivers.

I finally managed to solve it by moving all of the apps that were installed on my SD card back to the DX onboard memory. I haven't had a single USB-related reboot since doing that.

I ran into this is issue as well but only if I pull the plug without safely disconnecting from either a safe remove ubs feature OR selecting Charge Only on my device. I'm not sure if theoretically your USB/SD drive could get shock by just pulling out, still having a USB driver in use while pulling it. I havent had this issue as long as I unplug it properly. I have not had to sacrifice moving my apps back onto my device from my SD card.
