DroidX restarts after shutdown

Both my wife's and my DroidX's have been restarting, after having been shut down/powered down. My wife's DroidX has been doing this for about 2 (two) months frequently, but not on a regular basis. ie. not every day or every other day.
My DroidX has only restarted 3 times in the past 7 - 10 days. The last time, my phone was powered off and then restarted on its own within 10 minutes.
I recently downloaded the latest version of the Android OS, (2.3.3), about 4 or 5 weeks ago.
Verizon Technical support instructed me to do a factory reset, which erased all data and restored my phone to the day I first removed it from the box.
Can any one help me?
Please respond to bluejeankid@comcast.net

My wife's stock, never rooted X - recently updated to Gingerbread has been doing the same thing. About 30 seconds to a minute after being turned off - it comes back on all by itself. It's happening whether it's been plugged in to charge or not - makes no difference. It's annoying.

I just .sbf'd my X back to stock Froyo, rooted and updated to the 2 part rooted Gingerbread yesterday and mine has not yet done it.

Clearing the System cache has usually resolved this bug...

I just realized that my phone has been doing this, too, for about a week. I have the Droid 2 Bootstrapper installed, so my phone boots into recovery. It's a PITA when I'm shutting it down for the night. If I don't shut down and immediately plug it in, it will reboot fully rather than rebooting into the battery charging state when I select the reboot option from the recovery menu.

Power Down / Press and hold Home and Power until you see Android with astris / Press volume up and down / Scroll to Clear Cache Partition and press power to enter...

I tried clearing the system cache and reformatting the SD Card. Neither of these has fixed the phone restarting itself problem. Every night the same thing. Very annoying.

Wildman, I'm sorry, but your description of how to clear the system cache didn't make sense to me. I know what the "power" button is, but what is the "home" button?

It's the hard button at the bottom of the screen that looks like a little house.... The one that returns you back to the "Home" screen.

Yeah, done all that and left the battery out for 14 hours and nothing works. Got my butt chewed out on the plane a couple of days ago due to the fact my phone decided to restart just as the plane was landing at MSP; 3 hours after being shutdown!!! I thought it was my Otterbox case pushing the buttons, but nope, not that either. This could have the potential to be dangerous if enough of these turn on while in flight unbeknownst to the owner. It will at least get you a chewing out by the flight attendant, I can attest to that!

I just bought an original Droid (used) and it does this, too. I'm going to bed, I plug it into the charger, I turn it off, and a bit later it turns itself right back on. Had to pull the battery out last night. Very inconvenient.

I have experienced this too except I am running a custom ROM on my device (Liberty 3 v2.0) so it isn't limited to only stock GB.

I shut down my Droid X the other night before bed & I got woken up a few hours later because it turned itself on while sitting on the night stand. It wasn't being charged while off. Definitely very strange.

I held down both buttons and it just brought up the standard menu from holding the power button; holding home made no difference. This is really ticking me off.
