Drop-shade icons color font

Hello. I was reading a post on here someone posted about making changes to their apps to help with battery life. The person posted images that showed the icons on the drop-down shade fonts (WiFi, location, etc.) as a different color other than the eyesore stock color. Does my phone need to be rooted to do this change?

No. If you find a theme that you like, you can apply it and it will make changes in various apps.
