Dropped my Nexus in the Toilet!!!!!!

I've seen people calling the nexus a piece of crap...but never treated like one. Lol. There's always a rule of thumb when flashing Roms and mods... WIPE! lol I guess this goes hand and hand.

The trick using rice works well as stated above. Leta hope you don't play submarine with your nexus again but remember the rice...young grasshoppa!

Jesus, this is why my phone is always securely in a pocket before I even enter a bathroom.

Saw a study about toilets... close the lid before you flush. If you don't it's a mushroom cloud of stuff you don't want flying around your bathroom landing on everything.

That study turned out to be bogus, there is more bacteria on your keyboard than on a toilet seat.

Is this a joke?

No it isn't!

I just brought my wife's Bionic back to life last month using rice and alcohol. She dropped hers in the toilet New Years eve and it was toast. I had it in rice for 3 days and then use the 100% alcohol to fully submerge the Bionic.

Other than the watermark indicators glowing red inside the phone, working perfectly.

Have done it before on other phones and more times than not, they can be revived. The couple that I could not bring back to life had a longer exposure to water...ie..neighbor left in on the car roof in the pouring ran for well over a day. She thought she lost it and then when she found it, well, too late for that one! It was a Droid X.

Couldnt be saved!

Water is a conductor or electricity, so when anything that has power going through it comes in contact with water, the water is going to make the electricity go every which way. so id say #1 rule is to remove all power till it is completely dry. dry rice i think can do the trcik but would take much longer then rubbing alcohol as it evaporates quicker then water does. not sure but i think ethynol would dissolve the water also?

I dropped mine in the toilet yesterday!! :( Pulled it out immediately but it was too late. I wish I would have read this thread first before I ran to Best Buy crying!! Thankfully I have insurance !!!! I tried to dry it for a few hours, but all I got was a bootloop. I had some rice at home too!!! The worst part was, I then could have cooked that rice and served it to my sister!! You live and learn....

lol did you disassemble and put in rice? Or at least take the battery out?

I took the battery out right away, but It did nothing. The battery that was affected was the extended battery that I bought. Does anyone know once I get my phone back, will it hurt to pop the extended battery in the phone. Could it cause any issues??

I dropped my last phone in the toilet. I took it out dried it, put it in our work ovens (110°F) all day worked fine. Scared the living daylights outta me though.

Kind of a sh*#ty way to treat a new phone. My wife put her Blackberry through the wash. That didn't turn out so good.

I don't know. There's something about putting a phone that was dropped into a toilet up against my face that doesn't sit well with me.

You could be like The Dude and go in the bowl after it! ("Let me take another look, it's gotta be in here somewhere"). :)

I didn't realize this would be so common...but I dropped my phone in the toilet last night!

Does anyone know if it matters what kind of rice you use? All I had was Brown rice so I put it in a bowl of brown rice last night.

Brown rice (lol) was it white before you put the toilet phone in it.

Maybe next time drop it into a bowl of Listerine after you fish it out of the toilet, then drop it into the rice.
