Dropped S4, screen black but phone works

Hello! I dropped my S4 and there is a very thin crack across the top and the screen went black. It still turns on and notifications work, but no working screen. Any idea what could be wrong or needs to be repaired? And is it worth trying to fix myself or should I take advantage of insurance and pay $175.00?

Welcome to Android Central! This is a common consequence of a cracked screen. The screen will need to be replaced. There are quite a few YouTube videos showing you how to replace your own screen, so review some of them, and see if you'd feel comfortable doing it yourself.
