Dual SIM and Sprint

FYI; Sprint doesn't support the DSDS of the Pixel. I have At&t as my esim and tries to get Sprint as my physical SIM and they told me they don't support it. I have it for work, so no choice otherwise I wouldn't use Sprint.

I bought the phone for that reason, but I may keep it anyway, battery is much better than reported.

Sprint doesn't support a Pixel with a SIM card in it? Maybe you need a different Sprint store - on in which there's someone who actually knows something about Sprint. Of course they support putting a SIM card into a Pixel. (Changing between the eSIM and the SIM card is a bit of a pain, though. But that's Google's fault, not Sprint's.)

I wish you were right. They support the SIM card, but only if the eSIM is not set up already. I didn't work with a store, I worked with my account manager for my company phones. She tried for two days until she finally found someone to tell her that they don't allow it. Sprint is super goofy, they don't even allow you to switch a SIM without notifying them because they are tied to the phones now.

Do you have WIFI calling and the advanced calling features with AT&T on the the eSIM? I'm trying to do the same thing as you except with Verizon on the physical SIM and AT&T on the eSIM.

I have an unlocked Pixel 4 XL and AT&T is saying that WIFI calling and the advanced calling features aren't supported on a non AT&T Pixel.

Unfortunately, AT&T does not fully support unlocked devices on their Network. Now if you took out your sim from another AT&T branded device that had all the features then wifi calling and hd calling would carry over. But since the eSIM requires it to be provisioned on your account then they won't be able to support it or add those features.

That didn't work for me. I took my sim or of my att branded note 10 plus and put it in the pixel. It doesn't work. At least for me. I also tried putting my wife's sim in from her art branded phone. No dice on my end.

Something probably wasn't fully provisioned on your Note 10+. Try putting it back in your Note then contact AT&T to make sure that IMEI is fully provisioned or activated on your account. Once that is complete you should be able to put the SIM into the Pixel with no issues. If you've just been swapping sims from device to device then that may be the issue.

Ok, that is exactly what I was afraid of. I've read in other posts that if you swapped in a SIM from a fully functioning android device already on AT&T, that advanced calling and WIFI calling would work. Unfortunately, I don't have a SIM from a fully functioning Android device. My current work phone is a Oneplus 6T and although it has a physical SIM, it isn't fully functional on AT&T's network either so I guess I'm stuck. Everyone at the carrier stores keep telling me to just get an iPhone since they don't limit functionality on iPhone's. Looks like my business phone is going to be an iPhone.

The problem is that AT&T system device checks the IMEI nowadays to verify SIM and phone match up. I used to do that 2-3 years ago but AT&T closed that door. Unfortunately, Enhanced Calling Features, aren’t even supported on all carrier locked AT&T devices either since regulations only require support of Basic Calling Features on factory unlocked or carrier unlocked hardware.

Good luck...

Well, AT&T hasn't fully closed that door yet. I actively switch between unlocked and locked devices quite often with no issues. Even between iOS and Android devices. Been using my unlocked Pixel 4 for over a month straight and HD Voice and WiFi calling still work. I'm on a corporate account though so maybe it's treated differently than regular accounts. Who knows.

It’s simply driven by an IMEI automatic check system. I’m no technical IT kind of person. Sometimes if the device is the same identical, not a problem. Or perhaps, IMEI checks wouldn’t be done on certain Enterprise accounts because it would cause the Enterprise problems with all the various owned devices.

I returned the unlocked Pixel 4 XL to Best Buy today.

As a work around, could I pick up a used AT&T Pixel 4 XL that is unlocked, put AT&T on the eSIM, and then put my Verizon SIM in it? Would I get full functionality on both networks?

Yeah that should work. The IMEI is registered in AT&T system as an AT&T model so even tho it's unlocked it should still be fine.

I got a carrier services update today. Now wifi calling and RCS work fine. It had nothing to do with the IMEI. I buy more phones and swap more times than I can count without issue. Now that the update pushed it works. All is well on that front.

Yep I remember back then I tried to use an ATT sim that worked fully in my ATT s4 into an unlocked TMobile note 3 and I couldn't even get LTE. Even with the correct apn. After much research, it was found that ATT verifies the IMEI of the device, if it's not an ATT device , then the phone gets crippled.
Maybe these days it's different and they're not as dirty as they once were.

Great, the day after I return mine. Lol

I got mine on a Black Friday deal so I won't be buying another one at full price. I've been running my 6T since March so another month or couple months won't kill me. The prices on the used ones have already dropped down to what I paid on Black Friday so it won't be long before I'll be saving another hundred or two over Black Friday prices. I'll look for an Unlocked used one that originated as an AT&T device.
