Are themes and ROMs the same thing? I was just browsing through the "screens" sticky and saw a bunch of really cool themes. Were the cosmetic changes due to flashing different ROMs, or can you just download themes and use the default Incredible ROM?

I'm going to take a stab at this, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. ROMs and Themes are different. I believe you have to be rooted in order to flash a different theme. There are many custom ROMs to choose from once you do have root access. Personally, I run a custom ROM (Virtuous) but have never messed with a theme.

Hope that helps a little bit

Have to be Root , each ROM have a customized theme , you can flash additional Themes for that ROM , each ROM have specific themes that work only with the ROM flashed , mean if you flash a Gingerbread based ROM you can't flash a customized Sense theme on it .

Maybe this will help. Themes are [to an extent] the look of the software, Roms are the actual software. Root is required for both.

Perfect! All responses answered my question. For me, I'm most concerned with how my phone looks, atheistically. So I'm going to find the most stable ROM out there and use it primarily to load custom themes.

I am happy with how my Incredible came. I love the weather on the front screen and time. I can choose wallpapers and there are themes in the market as well. Right now I have Steve Nash wallpaper since I am a SUNS fan. Just wish they were doing better. But losing Amare hasn't helped.
Back to your question Look at the market......enjoy your DINC. Those of us who have it LOVE IT
