Duplicate contacts in Verizon Message+ app??

A

AC Question

There are duplicate contacts in the Verizon messaging app ONLY, not in the regular contacts folder on the phone (Samusng Galaxy S5). How do I get rid of these duplicates?

They are also only showing up when I go to compose a new message and start typing a name. Then there are 2+ of pretty much every person and every number.

(This is my boss's phone, and Verizon won't talk to me because I'm not related to the account, so any help is greatly appreciated!)

Here is what I found that it is a glitch in the App and Verizon is aware of it, except for the tech I spent 45 minutes with today when mine started showing double contacts. They are supposedly "working on it" since last October-ish accorkind to the threads I have found. The only think we didn't try was to back up the phone and erase it. I didn't have enough Cloud space to back up my data and I was NOT going to buy more. Here is a solution I found but didn't try either as I want to keep some of my text messages:

Here is what I had to do to get rid of the duplicates in messaging.

1. Go to Settings.

2. Go to Applications.

3. Go to Application manager.

4. Scroll the applications in the Application manager and find Message+.

5. Select Message+.

6. On the Message+ screen you'll see a "Clear Cache" button and a "Clear Data" button. Clicking these buttons will delete all current text messages, etc so if there are any you want to save you might want to find a way to back them up.

7. Click on the "Clear Cache" and "Clear Data" buttons.

8. Exit settings and start the Message+ app. Notice that it is starting up just like you are using it for the first time.

9. Create a new text message... Your contacts should be showing correctly now.

Hope this helps.

Really hope this works too.

Bought a new S7 today and have the same issue. There is no clear cache button. Only force stop and disable.
