Duplicate contacts

Let me first say I just purchased my note 3 yesterday and I can't put this thing down. Without a doubt this is the most complete phone I've ever owned. When activating it I discovered a ton of duplicate contacts. Rather than manually link them, is there a setting will identify and merge them automatically, or will I need to find a 3rd party app to do this for me. If I need an app are there any recommendations? Thanks.
