Duplicates in group SMS for chomp or handcent

I have a group setup in Google contacts with about 26 people. When I go to send a group SMS in either chomp or handcent it says their are 32 numbers. I think the issue is related to people linking their Facebook phone numbers and listing it with a 1 and the brackets and dashes. Anyone else notice this? Any fixes?
