I noticed my Handcent SMS program was force closing so I rebooted my phone. When I rebooted it, I got the little alien with the triangle/exclamation point and the E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command error message.

I don't know why this would be happening. I haven't tried to root it or anything and I actually wiped the phone a few weeks ago when I thought the OTA update was hurting my battery life.

So in essence, what I'm wondering is if there's any way to fix this without doing another data wipe.

Well, after my fourth battery pull and reboot, it appears to be in working order. Very strange. Has this happened to anyone else?

I haven't heard of that happening either but I would recommend uninstalling and then reinstalling Handcent. I use it and have never had a FC.
