E-Mail Questions for Android Users

Hello Fellow Android Users!

Is there any way to setup the email accounts on a Android phone (I own an Evo 4G) online? I am coming from a Blackberry (9800) where I could automatically setup my email by logging into BIS and it would be setup on my phone for me.

Also, I want to know if there is an email client that allows me to "Mark All As Read". It is a real pain to have to go through opening emails one by one and I also do not want to have to mass archive. I have multiple businesses and therefore have about 5 email accounts. This can make it a pain to have to select and open emails one by one when I receive about 100 a day. My email accounts are IMAP.

As far as I know you need to setup each email account on your phone. This would be your email address and name. Most of the better email programs will configure IMAP for you but you sometimes need to tweak some of the settings as their default can be a bit off. If you are using GMAIL, the GMAIL App is the easiest.

As to an email program that will let you mark messages as "Mark as All Read", I use "Improved Email" which allows you to place a check on your mail and then click a bottom on the bottom left marking them as "Read". This is a great program as it gives you a lot of options on how to handle your email but do note that there is an issue in that it does not always sync to your account at the time you designate (for me it is yahoo mail). The work around is just to manually check your mail. For me this has not been a problem but give it a try and see if it meets your needs.

I ended up using K9. Working great! If there are any needs left unfilled I will give Improved Email a go. Thanks!

There is no BIS equivalent in the Android world (and, therefore, no BIS outages). Your Android apps run on your device and must be configured on your device.

The closest equivalent would be the gmail mail fetcher IMO.
