Okay, so I'd like to get something so I can listen to music, movies, etc. and thought it would be a simple purchase. Amazon's results were bewildering so I decided to search all the forums on AC and saw references that some types don't work with some phones. I never dreamed that could be an issue! I'm not sure I know enough to even ask the right questions so I figured you folks might help me stumble through this. I want something that will stay on/in my ears when I'm active outside gardening and so on, yet still be comfortable. Is there such a thing and is there some way to know if they would be compatible with the Note 3? Hope you can help, thanks!

depends on how you like listening to your music and what types of music you listen to. head-fi.org is a great source to ask questions about headphones. i personally use the shure 425,

these are great for keeping the noise out and aren't too bass heavy and clear throughout. this plus using the SOund Adapt function, as i have limited hearing in one ear, really makes the music shine!

i've tried other in-ear headphones from sony, skull candy, bose, beats, but have consistently found shure headphones to be better than most, especially for the types of music i listen to.

It just depends on what you want. If you are an active sweating type (like I am lol), I bought a nice pair of Bose IE2 sport earbuds for good quality and sweat resistance. They're a bit awkward at first but haven't had a problem with fitment or falling out. I also have Klipsch s4 earbuds that I love and stay in quite well, also have a good amount of sound isolation. My next purchase will be headphones, in which the Audio Technica ATH-M50s takes the cake.

I will look into those lines and their lower budgetary models. I know it's probably a matter of "you get what you pay for" but I usually decide I want these things, find them uncomfortable and then they get tossed or given away. Thinking about it further, I think comfort and their ability to stay on when I'm active is probably more important than sound quality. Thanks for the advice and giving me model numbers to look at, I appreciate it!

I bought a pair of Jay bird blue tooth earphones but after only 3 month one of the cushions started to separate. Customer service told me that they wouldn't cover the ear buds under warranty, so while they're decent earphones, Their customer service is suspect.

I normally use the Bose for in ear and on ear, but these from Aftershokz:

Amazon.com: Aftershokz Sportz 2 AS320 Open Ear Sports Headphones: Electronics

are really nice. Not the best response wise, but stay put and allows you to hear everything around you, as they are bone conducting and sit on the bony ridge in front of your ears, not on or in them. You can sweat as much as you need to, and all you have to do is just wipe them off, no muss, no fuss, no ear wax, either.

I'm happy with the LG HBS-730. Bluetooth headset. Great for music, calls and navigating S-Voice/Google Now. Comes in white or black and perfect for all day wearing as well running and other activities.

I have a pair of beats by dre they are the best for deep bass and hearing those notes that other wise you wouldn't hear with regular headphones

I have a pair of over ear Sennheisser M550-x Bluetooth headphones that are very nice. Great sound, light weight, soft leather ear cups. Can be used wireless (BT) or cabled. On BT battery lasts ~8 hrs but not needed when cabled. They are noise canceling, which ups the price a bit (quite a bit) but they are so comfortable I don't notice them even after hours. I used ear buds for a long time but they started bothering my ears. I needed the noise canceling for work, so I got these. They are fabulous but pricey.

I have a set of skull candy buds that I picked up at TJMaxx. I've been pleased for the cost. Would love a nicer higher dollar set. But won't use them that much. Mine are more for physical activities and don't want to worry about anything happening to them.

I bought my mom some some motorola's bluetooth headphones and she loves them. She uses them for gardening etc..
If you have a small to medium sized head these will be really good. And most importantly they will stay on. These are in ear head phones

These look comfortable if upright but would the necklace part become uncomfortable if it's on bare skin and I'm constantly bending down, etc.? I wondered if it would flop around. Is it flexible at all? I wondered if I might be able to rig it to hat..... BTW, saw two hats that have the induction type headset built in and sunglasses with earpieces built in to the side arms. Seems like they should just come up with clips to go on regular glasses and I'd scarf up those right away. Thanks for letting me know these would work with the Samsung features. That certainly makes them appealing.

Ultimate ears superfi 10 and shure se215 iems are my favorites. Klipsch s4 are pretty nice too and are sub $100. They are a little too heavy on bass which is the only thing I don't like about them.

Headphones & Earphones

Check out woot. They have the S4, and Beats. If you want either of those. The sale ends at Midnight though, so you have less than 10 hours.

Got some Limited Edition Beats by Dre Powerbeats off eBay this past summer for about $120 shipped. Love the white/black/gold color, sound quality is superb in my opinion, and they have held up nicely through many of my workout regimens.

My first set of Bluetooth ear phones, these were priced just right, coming down from a $100, and a buddy was telling me that he had the higher price ones that go behind the ear stated that they hurt. Going to try these if they don't satisfy, try something else. I really like the price.. ;)

Bought these after pre-ordering my N3...I presumed (incorrectly) that the N3 would bee too big to "lug up to my ear" and talk so I wanted a hands-free device but loathe traditional Bluetooth in/on ear devices.

So far, I love it. When I don't need it, the buds stow magnetically to the harness (for lack of better word) and the sound is great for music, podcasts or phone talking. It receives more comments than the N3. To extend battery life, I keep the headset and phone Bluetooth off but they both power up and pair quickly enough that I can still answer the phone via the headset.

Oh, and bout the size of the N3...held the MiL's S4 today. What a cute and tiny (and powerful) sister phone! lol
