Ear buds versus headphones?

I generally use ear buds of one form or another (wired, wireless, neckband) when out and about as I mostly listen to podcasts when out for a walk etc. Sometimes I do want to listen to music but find the sound of earbuds is far too weedy for anything but background relaxed listening while doing something else. If I want to properly listen to music then I need to use headphones. Am I alone in being in this situation? Anyone found any earbuds which give near a full on, over the ears headphones experience for music listening?

Ear buds can have excellent sound, and bass that rivals over the ear headphones.

But they are also extremely finicky. They have to be placed exactly right in your ear, you have to try various sized tips, and they can have a tenancy to work themselves out.

I just don't find them comfortable on top of those issues. I have some for occasional use, but I prefer traditional headphones. They fit fine and just work without all the finagling.

I can't stand buds in general. I can never find a way to make them comfortable. I have a pair of these: https://shokz.com/pages/openmove

I like them a lot better. I think the sound quality is ok, but it's good enough for me. An audiophile...I think may be disappointed. However, these are the entry level sets, so there may be some quality compensating for the price. I got mine at Best Buy if you are in the US.

Otherwise, I agree and prefer headphones for better listening quality.
