Ear piece popping / ticking noise

My ear piece has made ticking noises in the past, but it seemed that it would only do it for a little bit and then stop, or a reboot would make it go away. It seems now that nothing will make it go away. It's a really discreet sound, but the weird thing is it still does that even when not in a call. Anyone else know what the deal could be?

Well I had a similar "ticking" issue and came to find that the problem was my headphones. Apparently some static charge was building up on the cloth cord and the discharge would cause the speaker to make a small tick. I have since switched to headphones with a rubber cord and no longer have that issue.

Static buildup seems like it would be a good reason for the ticking sound, although I'm pretty sure mine isn't due to the headphones. I use the Palm Pre headset which has a rubber cable, and I hadn't used them for a while. I know rubber isn't exactly a good conductor, but I'm thinking the silicon case could possibly pick up a charge from being in my pocket. Not sure how probable that theory is lol, but either way, it's free of ticking today! Hopefully it stays that way!
