Earbuds that came with the Note 8

the Earbuds that came with the Note 7 and S7 Edge came in a little hard plastic case. Nice and classy.

Didn't have any of this with the Note 8. I was kind of disappointed.

They sound tinny but a little fiddling with the equalizer provides a little more bass. They are what they are. I have a better pair I use off and on but these are good for audio books and podcasts. The better pair I have are better for music.

Whatever happened to the rumors of Bixby enabled bluetooth earbuds coming with the Note 8? Maybe when the Note 9 comes out without a headphone jack

Not sure if they were the same but the ones that came with the Note 5 were in the same little plastic case, Since I have them unopened from all three (Note 5 & 7, S7E) , I will have to compare them.. :)

Cheers,

These sound better to me than the buds that came with the Note 7. A lot better, actually. I'm no audiophile, but I am happy with them for free. I went into the Samsung music app and did the test that allegedly caters the music to your ear, and I thought it made them sound really good.

I don't use them a lot but I find them both comfortable and of good sound quality. And FREE 😁

I put the bigger tips on mine and if I push them in and get a good seal in my ear, they sounds way better than the Samsung S7 edge earbuds I have. I was disappointed with them at first until I switched out the rubber earpieces.

I'll try this. The sound is definitely better than the S7 earbuds I had and they do seem to cancel out surrounding noise pretty cool. I like them so far.

I found my old Shure ear buds and drilled out my Pelican case so their connector will fit into it, and they sound excellent running off of the Note 8. So the phone is capable of producing good sound.

Part of it IS getting a good seal into your ears, of course.

But no matter what I tried, the ear buds that came with my Note 8 just sound shrill and tinny to me. Not a big deal, but I just figured AKG would come through with something pretty nice, even if they're just "tuned" by them.

When I first got the Note 8 I tried the ear buds and also thought they didn't sound good, tinny and no base. I read that someone switched out the ear tips with the large ones that come with them and now they sound good to me.

I use either my QC25's (if I'm flying) or my B&O Beoplay H3 (ironically, a giveaway from my V20, which I hate, even with the much-touted QuadDAC) when I'm in the office or running.

I tried the AKG's and am disappointed to have to say that I just hate them. There is just NO low end, so as others have noted the sound is super tinny, bordering on brassy. I think a better sealing gasket would help, but as-is, they're worse than the stock iPhone set. Very annoying, since I come from a history with K141's and K240's which I flat loved.

Put ear buds on, go into Settings>Sound Quality and Effects>Adapt Sound pick one. See if they sound better for you.

It worked for me.

The larger earpieces help a lot!

I had tried the medium sized earpieces that the buds came with, and the smaller ones, too, because my ear canals are actually small. But I had not tried the larger ones because that seemed counterintuitive.

However, I just installed the largest ones, and guess what? I do now get a LOT more bass with the larger earpieces installed. Getting a good seal is important, and apparently the larger earpieces do give me a better seal and likely also create a larger enclosed volume between the drivers and my eardrums than what I got with the smaller ones in place even when they did get a seal.

So I'll have to re-evaluate these units. But I'm liking them a LOT more with the larger earpieces installed. I don't think I like them as much as my old Shures, but they're a LOT better now. And they're more comfortable in my ears as well.

Thanks, everyone!

It's all about the fit. I have used wired Etymotics and Focal Sphere ear buds and Bluetooth Phiatons. I used comply foam tips for all. The AKGs sound true to me - not too tiny or muddy with a sound stage that is at least as good as Etymotics - and I have not yet received the comply tips for these. Just by luck, the large stock tips fit me well. I will be getting the comply to improve isolation - although I am sure they will add some low end as well. All in all, these AKGs compete favorable with ear buds I have used in the $150USD range.
