Early QC issues

With that being said, my phone just got dropped off at my doorstep and first thing I did was open it and shine a 700 lumen flashlight on my screen and check the panel taking some pics to share. I honestly don’t know what I am looking for but at least first blush, panel looks clean and am happy. Now to turn it on and hope it looks good :)

Come get my 12K flashlight to make sure you see everything

I just used my overhead ceiling LEDs. Honestly, it's not that difficult to see. Let the light hit the panel and follow it from left to right. If there's no bend in the light along the screen, there's no issue.

I guess that would work LOL but I don't have one of those only a keychain light but every one talking about the fact of screens got me concerned while waiting for my phone
It will work less reflection from powerful led flashlight, i use them at work to detect AC leaks with dye in the system. I understand your worries.

Why do we need a flashlight to see defects that would appear to the naked eye?

Why not??

Well it sounded like many didn't really notice the defect until people posting and then taking a very close look at it under light or angle. So I guess it's not that apparent to the naked eye at a glance.

We really don't know do we if this is truly a nothinburger and just cosmetic or down the line panels that show this defect gets worse over time... Lamenant or layers start separating or failing or whatever??

I just wanted to make sure and take a deep look to make sure. If I found that I had some defect out of the box better to address it or decide what to do with it now than later.

12K!!... I'd worry it'd burn a hole through the panel or at least bleach it lol
It will get hot. It's limited to 30 seconds at that level then lowers to next level which is still bright. It'll light the street up no problems.

Thats not how manufacturing works. There are tolerances to every process.

At the end of the day, Samsung says it is within spec. If that's not good enough for a guy, the option is to return it. Not saying that's good or bad, just pointing out reality.

This is not a tolerance issue. This is a manufacturing defect.

You can see these easily with the naked eye, no bright light needed.

Regardless what we think if defect or tolerance issue nothing we can do here in the forums and its up to Samsung if they will replace it or not if not then see if you can return it .

I had returned my 1 TB S23 Ultra purchased directly from Samsung because of an overall uneven and slightly dim appearing display. I got a 512 GB S23 Ultra from Amazon.

The second phone has the defect in the bottom right corner. I can't see it at all in use nor any sign of it. It's very tiny. So I'm keeping this phone, assuming I don't uncover any other issues. In my case it does appear to be a "nothing burger". Thank goodness. It made me really sad and stressed to return the first phone. I really did want 1 TB for storage but this time around I decided to keep my S22 Ultra, too, and I couldn't afford to pay for a 1 TB phone without a trade.

I ended up returning both of the 512GB graphite ultra's I got, and ordered a regular black 256. The new one still has a very slight ripple, but nothing near what the others were, and is acceptable.

Well this has turned to garbage. Samsung processed one of the returns, and someone at FedEx stole the phone out of the box. Thankfully Samsung sends videos, but this is a ridiculous hassle now.
