Earphone's microphone is not working on Samsung S7

[AC Question]

The microphone on the earpiece that comes along with the Samsung S7 suddenly stopped working. I can hear music or people during calls but they can't hear me neither do my phone record any sounds if I use my earpiece.

I'm not sure if it is the phone, because I used another earpiece where the earpiece itself is spoilt (hear sound only from 1 bud) but the microphone is working, and there is no problem. At the same time, not sure if it is the earpiece's problem because upon using the earpiece on a iPhone/laptop, microphone works fine too.

Any advice? TIA

There are two possibilities in this situation.
- In case of simple software malfunction, it can be resolved by factory reset.
- 3.5 Pi earphone terminal failure may be considered, but it is unlikely if it works on other microphones.

It seems to be difficult to make an accurate judgment, and it is better to consult with customer service.

Welcome to Android Central! Just to be sure -- is the earphone's plug pushed all the way into the headphone jack? If the jack is pretty snug, it might make people wary of pushing in too hard, because they're afraid of breaking something.
