Earpiece speaker volume low?

Definitely an issue with the phone.

I have had the same volume issue with my maxx. build date on the retail box says 8/23/13.

Volume was great the first day on phone calls and speakerphone. Then, yesterday the headset volume (at max) was insanely low on calls. It put it on speakerphone (max volume) but could still only make out parts of my call. I rebooted once. I ripped off the otterbox commuter mid-conversation thinking it was covering part of the earpiece speaker. No change. I toggled airplane mode, no change. I DID notice that exactly where I held my ear made a difference--if I didn't hold my ear just over the one thin speaker hole, I would have zero volume. When the issue was occurring, the speakerphone call was barely noticeable. In fact, I had to hold the phone an inch or two away from my ear to make out any part of the call .

Then I power cycled a second time. Instantly, symptoms went away. I had to lower earpiece volume quite a bit, and when set loudest it sounds like the person is shouting at me. I put the call on speakerphone and everyone in the car complained it was so loud. 1000% change from the 2nd reboot.

Your issue sounds like you have a defective device. Return or exchange time.

Mine is so loud that I had to turn down the volume while I'm in a call. And my hearing is pretty bad.

if his is defective so is mine because I'm having the same issue even on BT calls it acts up.
So u get the same advice he does. Just make sure you make a few test calls before you leave the store. My sister's brand new iPhone5 had screen freezing problems. Defective devices happen. Especially when you roll the dice and buy from the first batch.

i face the same problem on my new nexus 7 today ,
finally i found ,when you play videos ,you can HOLDING to press the volume + hard button ,then it's will bounce a notify to remind you big volume would harm your ear .you can just select OK ,you will found the volume can increase now .
hope above can fix your problem also .thanks!

I don't know why but my phone seems much better lately. Its still not as loud as the Note II but its easy to hear whether through the earpiece, Bluetooth or wired headset. Who knows, maybe my friends started to talk into their phones lol.

I've noticed the same. Either I've been holding the phone differently, or they are talking louder lol. I'd vote that I'm holding it differently.

Hi guys just to let you know Bose earphones works best on Iphones due to a frequency capacity. Bose will be low on all Android phones.

I occasionally get the low volume issue. I restart my phone and then it's fine. I don't know if it has occurred across all the software updates or not, but it doesn't occur enough to be a serious problem for me.
