Easier Texts with Gvoice?

So I'm trying to make the switch to full on google voice. I like how I can set it up to automatically dial from google voice, but is there a way for the default text messaging app to use a google voice number, too? I don't like opening up google voice everytime I want to send a new msg. Sure, there are ways to easily use google voice, but I'm looking for the same seamless experience I get through the dialer.
Thanks.

You can't use an app other than the GV app for messaging unless you enable SMS forwarding. Note that if you do enable SMS forwarding that you will be billed for any messages sent/received (or those messages will count against your messaging plan).

There's really nothing equivalent to how the dialer works with GV for messaging -- at least not at the moment. SMS forwarding allows you to use the stock messaging app/Handcent/Chomp/etc but all incoming messages come from 406 numbers (at least they were all 406 area code numbers back when I used SMS forwarding) instead of directly from your contacts. There's not a good way to initiate messaging. That's because if you just send a message to a contact via one of those apps, the message will come from you carrier number. In order for the message to come from your GV number you have to reply to your contact via the 406 number.

Damn shame... At least they were able to work out the issues with dialing. Too bad with the text. It makes it difficult for me to fully make the switch to google voice.
