Edge lightining does not work when i get a notification from gmail?

I have the edge lighting notification on for gmail but when i get a notification from gmail it does not light up the screen but for every other notification i have it turned on it works? does gmail not support edge lighting feature or something?

Mine works OK, but it carried my settings from the previous phone. In previous versions, in order for Edge Lighting to work, you needed to set your app notification to sound AND pop-up (annoying, I know), otherwise it wouldn't work, so I just left it like that. Not sure if they 'fixed' that or not, but something you can try.

You can also download Glimpse Notifications. From what I understand, edge lighting gets triggered when a notification wakes the screen. Glimpse Notifications lets you pick and choose which notifications wake the screen.

Did you try downloading Glimpse Notifications? I really think that will help you with this one.

I did as SpookDroid suggested and edge lighting works for me with Gmail.

Where is the popup option for Gmail? I've looked and looked. No such option in gmail settings>notifications so where is popup option?

I don't want to download another app that either dumps ads on me or requires intrusive permissions.

Settings/Notifications/See All/GMail. There you need to set the MAIL notification style options for your account as SOUND AND POP-UP. If it's set to just Sound (default) it will not trigger edge lighting.

Do any other notifications work? Are you getting Gmail notifications, just not edge ones with that app? If so, tap and hold the notification when you get one, press Details. Is everything there for Mail set to pop up?

Yes I went through the individual apps to confirm. It happens with the screen awake and unlocked but that is it.

Do you have AOD? I haven't tried it with AOD off, but Edge Lighting also only works for me when the screen is on. That's why the above poster suggested the app as this only works with notifications that wake the screen.

Yeah, I can't get my edge lighting to work at all, no matter what settings I manipulate. Pretty frustrating, and I don't want to use any 3rd party apps that drain my battery.
