Edge notifications settings questions

So, after taking back my note 5 I settled with the s6 edge.

Totally new to android and I am sort of learning as I go, are there certain settings you can work with to get more out of your edge? I have my wife, my son, and my dad in the edge contacts so far, but when I get a text from any of these people the notification comes up in the main screen and the edge color shows up.

Is there a setting that you can check to have notifications fall off? Or not show up in the lock screen, but still show up if you pull the notification panel down?

This way you get all of the use you can from the edge contacts.

This way you get all of the use you can from the edge contacts.

For notifications to not show goto security and select how to showup ur notifications under lock screen settings.
I.e. setup lock with pattern it will ask you how to show notifications or not show at all.
