My edge s7 power button has broken and the screen is not working either.

Following the steps outlined in the list below is bound to fail, as I cannot see what I'm doing!

  • When the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge is turned off, press and hold the volume button for a few seconds.
  • While holding the volume button, connect the Galaxy to a computer using a USB cable.
  • Wait for your phone to boot to Download mode.
  • Then press down on the volume rocker to cancel the operation.
  • After the operation has canceled, the Galaxy will reboot and turn on.
  • You have successfully turned on the Galaxy S7 without using the power button.

Not for them to have a look at the screen. I've had to do without my smartphone for a month, which was difficult seeing as I use it daily for a variety of purposes. Naturally, I'm reluctant to let them take a look at it again as I may risk losing posession of it for another month. Incidentally, they returned the smartphone to me today.

I might consider going to the carrier store to have them look at it, but for now I'm just looking for a way to power on my smartphone and update its firmware. I reckon the error might disappear in a software update.

In your OP you said the power button and screen were both broken, hard to figure how a software update is going to fix that. Also, you just received the phone today with those items broken? Why did you accept it?

Excuse my wording. English is not my first language.

By broken, I meant the screen does not work as intended.

I must take a detour to power it on, hence why I accepted it in good faith.

Once you get your phone powered on: you can add a setting to just waive your hand over the screen to power on:

Settings/accessibility/dexterity/easy turn on. Set this to on

Also, that setting allows you to power on the phone without touching it and unlock it using a fingerprint without pressing the button, just touching it, reducing the wear on the button. It's how I set my phone just because I want to keep the button wear low.

unfortunately I'm having the same exact issues but there seems to be no resolution. Neither the power or volume buttons are working. I have had my S7 for 6 months. Since I haven't been backing up my phone, I have lost all my photos. I took my phone to VZ this week, they are unable to fix the problem (at the time my LED light was on). Clearly now the phone is dead. They have given me another phone but all my stuff is lost so who cares! Totally frustrated!
