Editing and copying text on the N7

I've been a long time iPhone and iPad user and am used to the process of editing and copying text on those devices. What I don't like about my N7 is using the little slide button to edit text. Moving the cursor-line is a very delicate process. I slide the pointer button to where I want the cursor to be so I can edit but it almost always ends up somewhere else in the text and then I have to try it again to get it right -- but end up messing it up again. Any suggestions how to do this better. Is there a better keyboard app out there? I downloaded a couple from Google Play and they both gave a warning that passwords and credit card numbers could be captured by the app's developer. If that's the case then I don't want to use those apps. Thanks.

Every single third party keyboard will prompt android to bring up that it may be able to copy your text. That doesn't mean it will. Read the reviews on the keyboard you are downloading, and if they are positive, you should be fine

FYI, checking applications' permissions before you download them is a good idea. I think you'd like the iPhone keyboard emulator from the shop.
