Editorial on the multitasking issue.

Well done! You beautifully summed up the general consensus concerning the multitasking issue.

Just a few observations after reading your blog entry:

* For one, I think it is worth mentioning the Evo LTE at the top, with the One X series.

* The issues also have to do with the "suspension" of or "freezing" of many applications- they do not continue to run while in the background. One such example is having Google Play updates simply stop or even abort when switching to some other app, like the camera.

* Their "objective" to "keep sense running perfectly" has failed, because people still report "Sense reloads" (on my phone, it is rather rare, but I have seen it happen twice).

* You might want to formulate a more clear call to action for some compromise. For example, if they feel they want to keep things the way they are by default, then program in a way for the so-called "enthusiast" community users to easily change the multitasking/memory management settings.

* You might want to embarrass them where it hurts the most by pointing out that their #1 competitor, the Galaxy S III has no such problems with task/memory management and multitasking.

While those are all salient items, they are YOUR particular axes to grind. Of course your blog or email should highlight those talking points since they give you pause. The OP apparently has found issue with Multitasking, to the exclusion of the items you listed, for they may not be of as much import to him as they are to you.
But I reiterate that all your bullets bear weight.

I am not the only one who probably has the same items. I don't think his borrowing some additional stuff is a bad thing... he just may not have thought of including those.

True. But I thought he was asking for feedback. If not, no harm done.

But I reiterate that all your bullets bear weight.

I just wish they weren't true or necessary.

Well worded. And I agree. For the enthusiast community, you do a great service by trying to inspire others to make their complaint known through email. It might just work.
As the saying goes, "you can't hit a home run if you don't swing a bat."

Thanks.
I love the Evo LTE, but no product is perfect; just a series of compromises and weights.

I want to think of us as a vocal minority. It is OK to complain on the forum... Misery loves company. And sometimes we can help find work-arounds, or at least better define what the problem is. But it is far more effective to also complain to the people who made the mistake and have the power to fix it: HTC. (Perhaps Sprint too, if one thinks Sprint would put pressure on HTC). It is hard for someone at HTC to make a case that no customer cares about the issue or even that there is no issue, when they are getting hundreds and hundreds of angry Emails about it.

It is just like election voting. I am under no illusion that my vote really makes much difference, but I am certainly going to be informed and vote, anyway. Drives me crazy when I hear someone complaining about crazy policies or overwhelming/unfair taxes or the country turning into a fascist police-state (all of which are true) and then finding out the person never even bothers to at least vote! Want to do more? Write letters to your representatives, talk to people, help educate, work with political parties or form a new one, run yourself. But it starts with the vote.

Great comments, now if we could get htc to acknowledge that some of us see this as a huge issue it would be great.

This is really great. I love the end bit.

Also sorry to go grammar nazi on you, but you spelled multitasking wrong in the 4th paragraph.

Thanks for the comments and feedback! To clarify, I wanted to keep the post a bit general rather than diving into every single aspect of the problem and making it kind of like a bug report. My goals were to overview the main issues and the reasons for them while keeping it relatively non-technical.
